My dad has either shy dragers or Parkinson's with dementia. Yesterday he went to the rehabilitation center for physical therapy. He came home so depressed and would not talk and we could not figure out what was wrong. Finally, he told us that he saw what he was going to become. He was crying. I am so worried about him now. I wish we would not have sent him to physical therapy. We did not think about him seeing the people with his same illness that are more advanced. He made the connection and now we just don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advise on how to help him? How do we deal with this? At least before he was not aware of exactly what was going to happen. I told him not to let it get to him that everybody is different and he could die of old age before deteriorating to that level. I told him look at me the doctors thought I was dead and I survived liver and kidney failure. It just doesn't seem to be helping much. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Thank you. You are right about enjoying the time I have with him. I am. I love him very much. I fear that I am a little Parkinson's too. Although I do not have enough of the symptoms to be diagnosed with Parkinson's. The neurologist is keeping an eye on me. I did have my blood taken to compare with his for genetic risk factor. Hi brain, Gosh I know you are upset on top of your own pain, with your dad. If I had PD or was suffering I would contact this gent up in canada named bob dawson. PM him. He has PD, and has to be one of the most compassion men I have met on this site. He has great knowledge of PD and may be able to offer advice. Hug your dad hard, it is so hard to feel and know your own deteriation is at hand. That is why your dad is crying. I wish I could hug your whole family. ginnie

Thanks Ginnie. You are such a sweetheart. Yeah, I was just watching a video that Bob Dawson posted and reading some of his posts. I will message him if I get a specific question. I don't want to draw attention to how bad it can get with Parkinson's to anyone that is suffering with it.
