I am posting to you becase I was originally diagnosed with "Mild Cerebral Palsy" as a child. I was born premature weighing 2lb 10oz 48 years ago.
My only symptoms really as a child were that I was basically uncoordinated, walked with a wider gait, walked on my toes, my left leg was weaker than my right over all my left side was weaker than my right. But basically as a grew I could do most of the thing everyone else could, riding a bike, swimming, bowling, etc.. I was just less coordinated and had a harding time with my muscles doing what they should do. At the age of 42 the CP diagnosis was taken away due to an MRI that showed no brain damage that was assumed all those years earlier. It is now determined that I have a condition call Dopa Responsive Dystoina (DRD). DRD can mimic many of the CP symptoms. DRD typically presents as a dystonic gait disorder that begins in early childhood. The symptoms of DRD may be similar to those of early-onset generalized dystonia, and begin in the legs. Symptoms may appear minor (such as muscle cramps after exercise) or present later in life in a form that more closely resembles Parkinsons disease. The features of parkinsonism that may occur include slowness of movements, instability or lack of balance, and, less commonly, tremor of the hands at rest. Symptoms of DRD are often worse later in the day (this phenomenon is called diurnal fluctuation and may increase with exertion. DRD can be controlled with taking medications like Sinemet that are used for Parkinson's Disease. DRD is not Parkinsons but Domamine is the treatment most commonly used for DRD. You would need to find a Very Good Movement Disorder Specialist (MDS) Neurologist that specializes in Movement Disorders. DRD is very rare so you may have to look for a Doctor that has knowledge and has treated patients with DRD. I hope this helps. Beverley |

I am kind of lost with my issues. I was an emergency birth where the placenta wrapped around placed me in an emergency delivery state. I didn't walk right away, I was late. And slept with my butt in the air. Instead of crawling I hitched on my butt. My parents started the CP tests and had a pre-diagnosis of CP. Then I started walking and the stopped the tests, so I don't know for sure.
I was put in special classes as a kid for the first few years of grade school. I showed signs of slow development, but I seem fine now. As a kid I also had bad back pain and found that my pelvis couldn't rotate like others. I dont walk funny and I am an athlete. The only things wrong with me is a tremor and sometimes I loose coordination suddenly. I also have bad deep aches and I am wondering if I have fibromylagia. Even certain clothes can trigger the worse pain. Does anyone experience something like this? |
