Hello friends! My son is 9 and has tremors, gait issues, speech issues, fine motor skill problems, ataxia.
He was adopted 3 years ago with a diagnosis of CP, and we have no family history at all. His MRI is completely normal, and in the last 3 years since adoption, we have not seen any progression. He has seen 10 doctors, and NONE of them have a clue what he has. SCA was brought up by genetics, but since there has been no progression, we aren't sure it would be that? Dr. Lynch at CHOP looked at his MRI and felt it was normal as well. Just wondered if any of you had any thoughts as to what he may have. |

Ataxia affects about 10% of people with cerebral palsy. I am indebted to my partner for this information - she was the boss psychologist of a local CP agency for many years.
I suggest that you contact a professional cerebral palsy agency - they will be able to do a proper assessment of your son and, depending, suggest appropriate treatment. |
