Default School Situation Update :0)

For those of you who are sitting on the edge of your seat wondering how the battle goes...

I called the Special Ed Director first thing yesterday morning and left a message on her voice mail. I was sweet as can be...told her that OBVIOUSLY I misunderstood her message and that I KNEW there was no way she was excluding Noah from any activity. I told her to please call me and explain her message to me...

I got home from work yesterday to a FRANTIC message. My sweet and sarcastic message worked. She was backpedaling as fast as she could. There was "no way" that she said that Noah wasn't going to be including..she was just checking to see what I wanted to do because she wasn't sure I would want Noah to go swimming (total B.S. since her orginal message stated that "obviously Noah couldn't go swimming" and yes, I have it saved for future reference). She said that they would get the PT/OT involved and work out whatever I wanted to do.

I called her back and I continued my sweet and stupid routine...it was so fun to listen to her try to get out of this one. I think she realized what a huge mistake she made and knows that I can get her in trouble with it.

Our next fight I'm sure will be transportation...remember our school doesn't own a lift bus. So it should be interesting to figure out how they will get Noah to the high school for 7 days - a bus rental won't be cheap! But that's not my problem is it???

Final Score...Lori -1 Special Ed Director - 0

Good post, and good for you.

And you are totally correct its not your problem if they don't
have a bus that can transport him.

Hmmm, maybe it could be your suggestion that since he is
a 2nd grader and will be at their schools for say another 10
years that they might want to consider this now instead of
later. It might save them some money in the future.

Because it will never be your problem, and it will always be
something they will just have to solve. By hiring a outside source
to drive him.

i went to voulenter at my little brothers school over the summer, so i took the bus with him, and he was not allowed on the bus untill it had ac and wheelchair straps

oh, and ps...
whatever township you live in has to support you with a proper bus...by law, at least in PA
