Im up a creek and desperate right now. Im suppose to have left already or like now for Sacramento. Noah has his MRI tomorrow and an oral surgeon appt Wed. We have reservations at the Ronald McDonald house to stay til Thurs.. On the way to Physical Therapy today I heard a clunk in the van when I hit the brakes. When I got to P/T and went to park the van, it WOULDNT to into park!!! It wouldnt go PAST drive!!! The gearshift wouldnt go into neutrel, park, reverse or anything. I had to park it in Drive and use the emergency brake. I was stuck at the Physical therapy building from 8 am til 1:15 pm. THEN while I was there trying to text message Nathan, I went to shut the door to the van because some awesome P/T assistant gave me money to go eat something, I ended up LOCKING the KEYS IN THE VAN!!! ugggggggggggggggggggg I JUST got home at 2:05 pm riding with the tow truck and STILL trying to find a way to Sacramento..
I HAVE to go. I CANT cancel these appts. These are appts that have been set for MONTHS and Noah's MRI is with sedation and with anesthesilogists and ISNT easy to reschedule. Hertz is trying to find me a van to rent even tho I cant afford it but I need to try to get my powerchair down there because I CANT sleep on a flat bed. Now I have no van. Either the Transmission went out on it or the boys dad said it could be the linkage. The radiator is already broke and leaking everytime I stop the van. I NEED a new van. I have NO car/van now and I live almost 15 miles from town. Their dad doesnt have any money either to get me a van. I asked him last week or so to help me get the boys glasses (100.00) and he didnt have it. He is always trying to sleep here on the floor cause he doesnt have the money to stay in a motel and doesnt want to pay the gas to move his motorhome down here. PLEASE help me pray I can get something to go down there and get home. Thanks. HUGS Gina Marie

((((((Gina)))))),
BIG HUGS!! I'm sorry things are so shippy for you right now Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Have you tried getting in touch with your local church or synagogue or senior's group or high school -- to see if you can find someone that would be willing to transport you?? I don't know how far you are from Sacramento?? Would it be possible to *PERSUADE* an ambulance company to donate a ride for you?? I did that after my gall bladder surgery. The hospital wouldn't let me go home in a cab. So, they got the ambulance to donate a trip home for me (15 miles). Do you have a neighbor that will let you borrow their car?? Do you know some high school kid that has a car that you could rent/borrow?? Is there a train/commuter rail near your home that would get you close to the appointment?? Just throwing some ideas out there for you to think about. I hope you figure out a way around this. I always figure that The Universe puts 'situations/obstacles' in front of us because there's a lesson that we need to learn -- could your lesson be "learning how to ask for help"?? I'm definitely praying for you and the boys. There has to be a way to do this. Meanwhile, you've got to find a new friend that knows how to fix motor vehicles -- a high school kid, a relative, a neighbor. My stepson does that for a living. If you were closer... BIG HUGS (and love). Barbara |

Barb,
I THOUGHT I was going to be able to rent a van/car BUT... not possible.. I dont have enough money available on my credit card for them to approve it. I've tried two places and told the other place was the same. I've tried calling the boys dad and his cell phone doesnt work. Amazingly he hasn't called since this morning. Usually he has called all day. I tried calling a community place that advertises helping people today but they never called back. My church cant help. They are a small church and my pastor and his wife just left last night for Canada to see her mom who is like 93 and is suffering from Alheizmers or something like that. My pastors wife is hoping her mom will recognize her and thinks this will be her last visit. UCDavis is about 75 miles away. So its quite a distance for those handicap transport places. 150 miles round trip. I have even thought of who I could pay gas money to just drive us down there and I would try to find a way back then. I just need to get down there. Its almost 6 o'clock and Im still trying to find a way there. I have to get there before 8-9 pm before McDonald house closes. HUGS GM

I saw this yesterday, but never had a chance to reply. I was able to say a few prayers for you. I hope you got there safely and are able to get all the testing done. I know what you mean about rescheduling some of those. Sending more (((hugs))) and prayers your way.

Well Im in Sacramento. A brother from my church drove us here at 10 pm Monday night. We got here about 11 pm Monday but thank you Jesus we got here. NOW I have to find a way home tomorrow.
Turns out I am a miracle.. My brother came and checked out my van before I left Monday. He says I shouldnt be alive right now. It wasnt my transmission. It turns out the frame under the engine (the A frame I think) BROKE WHILE I was driving around town and I DIDNT crash and the engine DIDNT fall out!!! I heard a CLUNK when I hit the brakes while I was driving and thought it was something in the back of the van. Then when I went to park the van I couldnt put it in park. My brother said by the linkage locking up it prevented the steering column from falling thru. Soooo I guess that van is a goner. It JUST turned to 227,000 miles also like the day before also. So now I have at LEAST 13 appts set up for the month of Sept and MORE to make and I have NO van. I NEED to be approved for a van and NEED a van. Please pray the Lord provides something for me SOON. Thanks. GM
