Default How would you guys feel about this:

How would you guys feel if we shook things up a little bit. Let's face it, a lot of people have moved back to OBT. That was expected. However, we are still up and running. I was wondering how you guys would feel if we changed the format a little. Here are my ideas:

1.) A section for teens and young adults living with special health needs or disabilities. I think there are a lot of people out there who would LOVE to have a board just for them instead of having to pop over to the boards about parents talking about their kids with disabilities. This should be under health related topics. This would be monitored, ofcourse, so that there is no one preying on children or anything like that. However, it would give younger people living with special needs a place to talk and express themselves.

2.) Redoing this forum all together. Get rid of just the child neurology title and creating a new forum. Make it "Pediatric Health Concerns" or "Child Health And Neurology" or something like that under the health related topics section. Expand it beyond just neurology and open it up to other health topics.

Let me know what you think about this idea. Is it good? Is it bad? What are your suggestions?

I think both ideas have potential. However I do like the first idea.... maybe somehow incorporated into it could be something for siblings of disabled children. My son's school holds workshops for sibs which are always successful, just a place to be with others who understand life with a disabled sibling. I think it would be great to have a place for this age group (teens/young adult) that is affected by disability in anyway

I like the all inclusive sort of health issues, myself. I get compleltey tired of talking about epilepsy, and would love to learn more about the other stuff, like asthma and what others are doing for their kids. I think if we included more then just neuro stuff...more people would sighn on and it would be pretty neat.

I am up for whatever. I try to check in here and at the old Child Neuro board but have been too busy to be very involved lately.

Hope everyone is well!

(((hugs)))

I think it sounds like a great idea also. I would love to meet other parents with children with conditions I know nothing about. That sounds really neat.

((((((Tracy)))))), that's exactly what I think when I wander around the forums. You know, I tend to be everywhere and know what's happening in a lot of differerent forums 'cause I read pretty much all the daily messages when I can.

I've noticed sometimes that parents with kids with asperger's or with home schooling 'issues' have a lot of the same problems and concerns that parents of kids with "neuro" problems do.

((((((Kamie)))))),

I like the idea of a more inclusive name.

I also like the idea of there being a forum for teenagers. I really like that idea -- here and now -- because I like the direction these forums are taking with the oversight and the self-monitoring. I want the teenagers kept safe. Teenage sibs have totally different concerns when they have younger brothers and sisters with health concerns -- a separate, and safe, forum would be a fantastic solution.

BUT, I'd also like to see -- if it's possible -- links across the top of all the various forums that involve parents-with-kids, so that the parents are aware that there are other areas here where they might also be able to get help.

These all come under the umbrella of parents-caring-for-kids. There are probably more forums too (I don't know what some of the forum names mean).

Yes, I would LOVE a forum for teens because I feel intrusive giving advice about other people's kids. I also would like to discuss things like dating with a disability without feeling naive.
