Default Update/ intro to Keppra....and other news

OK, so it has been about 36 hours since the first does of Keppra and the first reduction of Topamax. I kept her home from school yesterday so I could keep an eye on her. I was ready to pull my hair out by AM.

I think that part of the attitude/behavior problem is the amount of Topamax he wants us dropping per day. 50Mg just feels like a lot; at least until she has the Keppra in her system really good. This morning I gave her her full dose of Topamax and the keppra, which by the way is 1/2 of a 250Mg tablet twice a day to start then next week we increase to a full 250Mg tablet twice a day.

I do still clearly recall the demon that we had when she was on Keppra before, I am going to try to be patient and give it time this time around. Keppra was the only one that she didn't stay on long enough to see if it would work.

So cross your fingers!

------Other News--------

We have been getting diapers through a really unreliable agency but our case manager at the family support network has given us a referral to a program that is part of the hospice center called Carousel Center that has some really amazing stuff AND they can supply her PULL UPS. I have been trying for months to get our current agency to order them and for some reason it has never happened. The Carousel Center offers services such as art and music therapy for Riley's sisters, which I really look forward to starting with them. Even better they have nurses on call 24/7 so if she has a seizure and she just doesn't look or seem right I can call and they will come and check her out. Which makes me feel so much better, I can't count how many times over the last couple of months I have sat and wondered if I should take her to the ER. They also report their observations to the doctor which will really be helpful too.

----Also-----

Riley FINALLY got her new chair! It is perfect She and I had a couple of errands to run after Jeff brought her chair, so we took it out for a test run. She was so comfortable, the only problem -it is HUGE- her Convaid fit so neatly in the trunk, this monster takes up the entire trunk of the van. But it is perfect for her needs. She can sleep and not flop forward or side ways.

-----And----

Her teacher called me, it is time for her IEP. For the first time I don't dread it. We will have to have it next week, I haven't called back to schedule it but it has to be done by the Th. I thought it wasn't due until October and had really hoped we would have her neuro psych testing done and the results before her IEP. I know it was wishful thinking, but hey a mom can dream right?

----Finally-----

my home computer has passed on, so until I get something fixed, or a new one my only link will be here at work, and well ya know they sort of frown on playing on the internet when you should be analyzing accounts I can't imagine why!

Tehya did not have behavior problems on keppra, but it made her have a huge incvrease in seizures. I hope it works for Riley.
