You're not alone. It's become a huge worry to me as well. Neither of my children, now in late teens have up to date vaccination schedules and I'm tired of having to umm and ahhh when doctors ask about them all the time.

No, you're not the only one. I feel as if I'm in two minds about it all. My daughter had problems with the first pertussis childhood vaccination and they omitted it from the next ones quite happily, but then there was an outbreak of whooping cough at her school and the worry was overwhelming. My two both had chicken pox when they were about 6 and 3. They didn't have that vaccination here then. My son has autism spectrum condition and both have TS and other neuro. conditions as well. I don't necessarily believe that my son's autism has anything to do with any vaccinations... I believe it is a combination of factors in his case plus genetics, however, every year there is another vaccination they're supposed to have and it's very concerning to me. I do worry about giving newborn babies multiple vaccinations. At least when my two were young, they weren't doing it until at least 3 months of age. Different these days. Then there's the german measles the girls are supposed to get at around age 13 and now we are seeing lots of outbreaks of meningococcal disease in young people here and heck, it's such a shocking disease. No one would want their child or anyone else to get that. Now our govt's latest hot cake is the Gardasil vaccine. It never ends.

one of our members on Latitudes, Kim, has been doing tireless research on vaccines and has been posting lots of articles

I have read enought there, along with heard enough anecdotal reports, to convince me that there is a serious problem with most of the vaccines.

There is a very real possibility that the middle school vaccines contributed to my son's development of Crohn's Disease, and we will never really know just what part the childhood vaccines, with their thimerisol=mercury content, played in activating his Tourette Syndrome/OCD etc....altho we realise that their is TS genetically in my husband's family....still, my son tested very high for mercury around 10yo.......I know some likely came from my dental fillings leaching while I carried him....but my older son did not have the same high mercury levels when we all had tests back in 2000, and he was vaccinated in South Africa, where, I am told, they did not use thimerisol...whereas the younger son had most of his boosters etc after we moved here in 1991

oh well........I ramble...........but this is a subject that I feel strongly about I know vaccines have saved lives, but there is also so much evidence that they can do damage to otherwise healthy kids!

here is the link to one vaccination discussion on Latitudes
http://www.latitudes.org/forums/inde...showtopic=1903

and
here is a thread there with many articles Kim has researched....some of which pertain directly to vaccinations, others to a variety of other chemical issues and more that can impact growth, development, neurology and general health in kids

Add me to the list of those leary of vaccines. I will likely refuse the middle school boosters for my daughter, but am not looking forward to actually crossing that bridge.

we refused them for lil'monkey. it was easier than i thought. they had a form for me to fill out. it did speed thing along that she had her school physical for sports and passed with flying colors. it seems more parents are opting out.

good luck with it cara. you might want to find out beforehand what you need to do.

i got the info already for next year...grandmonkey will go to kindergarden. the only shots he is gonna get is from his buzzlightyear lasor. ( i'm a good shot)

I am not so worried about getting it past the school, but facing the doctor to say I don't want them for her. Those looks, you know. But, after her reaction in kindergarten, and because she has the gut issues... I just don't want them! There was a list of like three vaccines they mentioned last time that we could have done that day or next time...and one of them was that cervical cancer vaccine...so I just passed for the day, but the doc could read my hesitance, I guess...because she said, "I didn't think so".

I hope she is really healthy for a few years...so we don't have to see the doctor!
