Hello,
I have tried methadone, oxycontin, morphine and norco 10/325. Methadone made me so tried I just couldn't concentrate. Morphine really did nothing for my pain. My doctor then gave me oxycontin (20mg) and norco for breakthrough pain. I was also prescribed Effexor, which is an antidepressient, as it has been shown to work on chronic pain as well as depression. This has worked the best. I only take (1) oxycontin during the day and about (5) norcos a day, my Effexor is taken at night (75mg). My doctor is very good about prescriptions and I think having a doctor like this is so much better than having a doctor who gives you RX based on his opinion instead of what works best for you. Some doctors will refuse to write oxycontin because of the controversy around this type of drug. I feel the best way is to try each RX and go with what is best for you. Since we all react differently to medications, what is right for me may not work for you. Good luck!! |

For About 4 Years I Was On 160mgs Twice A Day Of Oxicontin And Oxycodone For Breakthru. I Have Been On Patches, I Had A Pain Pump Inplant With No Relief So They Went Back In To Reposition The Catheter And Ended Up With Spinal Menegitis And Emergency Surgery To Remove Pump And Catheter And They Couldn't Sew Me Up Because They Didn't Want To Trap The Infection. I Was In The Hospital For A Couple Of Weeks And At Home Iv And Visitng Nurse For Ten Days. I Now Take 50mgs Of Methadone With Dilaudid Breakthrough. Sometimes It Helps Some, Sometimes Not Much. I'm Real Tired All The Time But I Also Have Severe Sleep Apnea (not Due To Being Obesed Because I'm Not) Which Flares Up My Fibromyalgia. Cpap Doesn't Work For Me. I Have A Freind With Lupus And She Swears By Kadian (time Release Morphine) And She Said The Methadone Made Her Sleepy All The Time. I Suppose It's Anyones Guess. They Say That Methadone Works Well On Nerve Pain.
