Hello All ~ This is Lee from the "other" forum, although I had to register under another name. I just learned of this forum today and was delighted to hear about it!

I just wanted to jump in and say "Hi" and also ask a short question. I've been on Soma for what seems like forever. Today my doctor switched me to Skelaxin, and was wondering if any of you feel it works any better than Soma? I've only taken one so far, so I can't really tell yet. Any opinions??

Been on both and I found that Skelaxin didn't work as well as Soma. But doctors have found that people have become addicted to Soma so they are switching patients to less addictive muscle relaxants. Name it and I have been on it. I was on Baclofen until recently when I was switched to Robaxin. I find that the Robaxin works better so far.
You might have to experiment to find out which one works best for you.
Here is a list of others you might want to try.
Baclofen
Zanaflex
Flexaril
Elavil
Robaxin
Some Benzos like Valium and Centrax
Neurontin (while not my favorite is also one that docs give)
So if you find that Skelaxin isn't working out luckily you have many other options.

Long time no "see!" Gee, I've missed you! I'm so sorry I lost touch ~ we've been having a LOT of family problems. How are you?

As to your question ~ I have been on both Soma and Skelaxen ~ they both worked about the same for me ~ although I could only take the Soma at night since it made me so sleepy.

Can't answer your question either, sorry. I'm amazed at doctors worrying about a patient, who will be on muscle relaxers "forever" anyway, becoming addicted...especially when the med works still!
