Good afternoon. I posted this in another forum but thought I would post it here also. I am a caregiver for a migraine sufferer of many years. Her chronic pain has cost her her job and her quality of life. She is currently seeing Dr. Gosey in Williamsville, NY but the NP assigned to her does not fully realize the level of her pain and subsequent lack of quality of life. The previous NP had her on a higher doseage of pain medication but when she recently left the practice, the new NP lowered the doseage by 2/3 and does not seem really interested in her case(I think it's a case of office politics). Also the previous NP was considering the pain pump as the next step as she has tried every preventative and her pain medication is not providing relief or control. The current NP brushed that off and will not even talk about it. After searching the internet I am looking for a doctor that will entertain the option of a pain pump or even the out-patient ketamine infusion therapy I have been reading so much about. I did see some posts from people in and around NY but they were old postings. I have considered making an appointment with Dr. Kreusz(sp?) in TX for the ketamine therapy but if there is help available closer, I would like to pursue that first. I appreciate any help/advice/information that anyone can provide. Thank you!!

Is there a medical director of that practice that you could speak to about the med changes and failure to follow through on the medical plan ?
If you are going to look for another doc, I would get the medical records from her previous NP to show what care was being given. |

Hi Do you live near a teaching hospital? We are lucky enough to live near WVU in Morgantown, WV and last week hubby and I went to see his nuro doctor and on the door was a notice that they were looking for people to join a study group for several things including migraines. This may be a good place for you to get the help your friend needs.
