Wendy,

When I went to the store to get my new facial stuff my head was spinning because there are just wayyyy to many choices. The facial products took up an entire aisle at K-mart! The shampoo/conditioner and hair products aisle is smaller than the face stuff aisle.

It took me at least 15 minutes to find something that I wanted to try. That's why I ended up with 2 different types of the Olay facial cleanser cloths - because I couldn't choose between one or the other so I got both.

It's just a bit insane that there are that many choices and that many facial products available.

Default Red cheeks here also

I have rosecea also, but to add to the fun, one of my side effects from morphine is flushing. I don't bother with blush!

Two things have helped me. My rosecea got markedly better and my adult acne went totally away when I started using Proactiv and stopped using my Lancome dual finish compact which I have been using for about 20 years! I don't find that I need to use the Proactiv as often as the suggest so it lasts longer and is cheaper. My back doesn't allow me to bend over the sink to wash my face so I take my makeup off with Adrianne Arpel's Meltdowns. I like the product, but I use it mostly for ease and lack of pain. I threw that info in as it is the main reason I don't use the Proactiv at night. PAIN

As I said, I ditched the Lancome compact. Now I use Bare Minerals which I LOVE! I have way too much of it. If anyone does want to try Bare Minerals, please be aware that there are companies that sell samples. That way you can try the colors on your skin tone without investing a fortune in something that will last for years, but isn't right for you. The amount in some of the samples, 1/4 tsp for $3.75, is actually a lot of product for eye liner, shadows, and blushes. The lipstick sample is a 1/4ish of a tube in a plastic pot with an applicator brush. For foundation and mineral veil, the samples are almost nothing since you use more. Don't buy the ones that only have an 1/8 of a tsp. You might as well get a little more for your money.

The best Bare Minerals product for Rosecea is bisque(concealer). It is heavy duty coverage that doesn't come off. It smooths into foundation for an even look. If necessary, it can be used as a foundation, but you can then definitely see that makeup is present.

My other side effect from narcotics is sweating. I was shocked when I discovered that even when my face is dripping, the Bare Minerals stays in place if you blot the sweat off! Down here in Miami, that is probably the most important thing. I do still use other makeup products, but I will never use anything but Bare Minerals for All over face type products again.

Sorry if this sounds like an ad. I was just so shocked when between the Proactiv and Bare Minerals that I could have even skin tone, this seemed like the place to share!

As to the question of recent recurrence, I haven't had one, but since I'm in Miami, the weather is very different so that might be why I'm not having extra trouble right now.

Hope something in that very wordy post helps someone,
Suzanne

Default cleared my roseca up pretty good

I had good luck clearing up my rosacea up this week and wanted to send a picture minus makeup, a bit of pink eye shado and little mascara. Two weeks ago I would not take a picture.....

I have skin color from rosecea just some pink tint left and no acne...
I swear by the cucumber wash products, and Lancome Hydra Zen DRY SKIN
NOT the combo skin. I also use the generic of stridex before moisturising as it has the same active ingrediant as Proactive. I can bet it does not have added moisture itemms though at $3.99

I am 52 years old....

Hi All,

I just wanted to jump in and say that a couple of years ago my Dermatologist prescribed Finacea. It worked well. However, it is drying, caused tightness and an increased redness just for awhile. I also used Cetaphil to wash my face. And the rosacea faded out for the most part.

But when I really noticed a difference is when I began to eat Yogurt and at the same time adding ground flaxseed to my cereals and such. It was like I never had rosacea at all! Strange!

And Amen to the Bare Minerals. Is that stuff great or what???!!! I use a Lancome cream first (only in winter) and then add the Bare Minerals. And in all honesty, I think using the Bare Minerals truly helped with rosacea as well. In the summertime I just put it right on my face and it feels as if you are not wearing makeup at all. I LOVE THE STUFF! There is only one place here in town that sells it. But since you use so very little of it, it lasts a good long while. Therefore, I don't have to stop at this particular store very often at all...unless I want to try a new shade or color.

Ooops, darn it, I forgot...

Yes, get the Mineral Veil too. I think IT is what makes the most difference as your face will have a glow to it. And I don't mean a greasy film or a sweaty appearance. It actually makes your skin appear softer and more youthful. Geez, I sound like a commercial here...but it is the truth!

Another makeup I found that works and is cheaper than Bare Minerals is Physican's Formula Multicolored Highlighter. I don't wear makeup very often so the price is worth it to me. I find that works for me.
