Has anyone else's Rosacea been acting up lately??? I just noticed washing my face this AM that in certain parts of my face that I look like I am wearing a red mask. You can see the line between the red and white skin.
Is it just me?

No..... it is not just YOU, for I too have this symptom when my Rosacea decides to flare up - I look like a thief that wants to be noticed - for my mask is BRIGHT RED.

yup me too. Be careful what kind of soap you use also. I use cetaphil and find that my face doesn't get as red after washing with it.
Wendy, how is your face doing with the metrogel (?) I used it years ago when I first started getting red and I didn't really notice a difference. I know I need to go back to dermatologist and get it under control but who wants to go see yet another doc. Sorry to any docs out there but i am burnt out. ...Sue

Hi Wendy ~
Mine has been acting up too. I hate when it flares up like this ~ Snoozie ~ I tried the Metrogel years ago too. It didn't seem to make that much of a difference. I should also probably go to the Dermatologist again ~ but you are so right ~ who wants to go see yet another Doctor! Love, dadsgirl |

I hate this, I am getting dry acne spots next to cheek near nose.
I found that with the winte drynes I started a whole house humidifier. Also Hydra zen FOR DRY SKIN ONLY! not the combination skin. You can see the texture difference. It is by Lancome in hours will lessen the redness. I have to remember not to forget to use it eveyday in this weather. IT is in department stores. It is $40 but has an de- stress, and natural items to calm the redness. It is the only thing I found to work fast, and extrelmy well. Dianne

Thanks everyone....thought I was about to loose my mind. This happened for the first time about a year ago and I was dx'd with rosacea back then. Suddenly since we had this cold snap the last few days, my face has swelled up and turned red like before.
I use Cetaphil everyday to wash my face and use the Cetaphil cream when my skin gets very dry and tight. I only use the metrogel on occasions such as this. Like I said is hasn't been is bad for about a year. I was just wondering if anyone else has suddenly seen their symptoms shoot up like a volcano recently.

Same here... my dry skin is going crazy lately and my face looked like I made a big goof with my blush because it was so red and patchy.
I went out and bought some new facial care products because when my face gets like this it often helps just to have a change in products. I had previously been using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. I bought 3 new things, and they made a big difference almost right away.... within 48 hours my redness faded and the dry patchy spots got smaller. After another 48 hours my skin was 90% back to normal. I got 2 different types of cleanser. Both are Olay brand and both are the cleansing wipes that do not need water or rinsing (they sort-of look like baby wipes). The 2 Olay cleansers I got are the "daily facials express" wet cleansing cloths and the "regenerist" micro-exfoliating wet cleansing cloths. I use the "express" in the morning and the "regenerist" before bedtime. For a new moisturizer I got the Olay sensitive moisture therapy lotion with aloe which I use twice a day. The thing I like the most about the new stuff is that I don't need a sink or water -- which makes washing my face a LOT easier on my back since I do not need to lean/bend over the sink twice a day. Heck, with these new cleansing cloth things I can sit on my couch and wash and moisturize my face if I wanted to The convenience is nice, but the fact that they helped my face so much is the most important thing.

When mentioning cleansers a huge tip helped me with cleaning.
Products with cucumber in it is so soothing. I use the wipes, not Olay, but similar with the cucumber, maybe it is Dove. I also have Dove w/cucumber tube wash. I had a huge problem and also found that the silly stridex, although drying, I had to use the Lancome Hydre Zen immediatly did clean the pimply spots I got by cheeks and nose. I was afraid of more redness, but it did the opposit, cleaned and then cooled fro witch hazle I think, whatever the active ingrediant is. I got generic at CVS for $3.99. But have to moisturize immediatly. I have metrogel, and I tried the oatmeal products out there, but did not sootha as well. Ask for sample of Lancome' Hydra Zen, DRY SKIN ONLY NOT COMBO! it is the best product over anything I tried for years. Dianne

Oh Di thank you for your advice. I know the hard time you are going through. My thoughts have been with you.
Cucumber....never thought of it. I am at the bottom of my bottle of Cetaphil and was wondering what to use next. I will take a look at Walmart today and see what I can find. Thank you all for your recommendations.

Well back from the trip to Walmart and got the Olay dual action cleanser and toner with cucumber extract. I hope that works out.
I should have printed out this thread because when I got to the store, I didn't realize there was SOOOO much out there. I was confused for a few minutes. I know some of you named specific products so having the thread in front of me would have been helpful. Wish me luck on this one.
