Default Basic Question

Hi everyone. I've been back to work and not on very much, just kind of lurking.

I wanted to ask a basic question. An MRI shows that my nerve roots are all bunched together in one area of the thecal sac. The neurosurgeon said this was likely caused by an infection of sorts, he is referring me to his associate.

He really didnt want to say more, I just need to do some research (I know thats not always the best thing to do, causes more anxiety), but can anyone send me in the right direction for research. Just curious if my symptoms fall in line with anything.

Thanks a bunch,
Michelle

Ask for the written transcript part of the MRI.That should give you more detailed information. Then you will know exactly what to research.
You have a right to get these papers too!
He should have given you more info.I mean it is YOUR body. Not like it's top secret information! Some doctors are just unreal.
Good luck.

I called today but you must come in and sign for them in person for confidentiality reasons. Of course they are only in till 3, and we are in the middle of a snow storm. 82 degrees Thursday and 10 inches of snow predicted for today, lol. I offered to fax a copy of my drivers lic. but they said no, family doc closed today too so I cant get it from there either. I called my PM doc and he cant see me till May since his PA is out on Maternity leave.

Oh well, will try on Monday.

Thanks

Sorry, I have no ideas on what the grouping of nerves means.

Just wondering....are you in New England ? I wore shorts yesterday and snowstorm today. Sigh. I live just south of Boston

I live in NE PA, the weather is crazy. We ended up with 15 inches of light weight snow.

Hopefully we will get some steady warming up soon!

Arrow Labar914~

I know nothing about this, but know how to bring it up. Here is a site you can go to. It sounds to deep for me.
[BOOK] Clinical Neurology - Google Books Resultby Graeme J. Hankey, Joanna M. Wardlaw - 2002
... adherence of the roots to the thecal membranes, and obliteration of the thecal sac. ... easily appreciated sign again being bunching of the nerve roots. ...
books.google.com/books?isbn=1888799676...
Or go to google and type in: nerve bunching of the thecal sac

I dont beleive my symptoms fall in that area, but its worth adding to the list of questions for the doctor. They will be sorry they couldnt get me in till May, my list will be a mile long, lol.

Thanks

Thanks, I will take a peak. I think I may need to stop looking soon, I am getting to anxious with it. It would be nice to finally get a diagnosis, but of course at 32 I was hoping for something that would be going away so I can get on with life.

Thanks again
