I stumbled upon this post you made and am battling burning allodinya pain in my neck and upper back. My neurologist diagnoisis is SFN, My Pain Dr. is saying a neuralga. Here is a link to my story.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread159222.html I have had every blood test under the sun but never knew to get my harmones checked, so I did. My Thyroid Profil, Cortisol, and other harmones were all good based off what you recommend to get checked. My Pregnenolone, 21 was low. Range was 23-273. My Testosterone was in range 168 Range 160-726 but on the low side. I am 39 years old. I am on lyrica 225mg going up to 300mg in next week. What advise wdo you have for me? |

Also, when reading hormone test results remember that you generally need to be in the upper 10% range of the test (at least above 90% of the range). For instance healthy male testosterone is in the 500's, morning cortisol levels should be above 15.. etc..
When trying to heal the adrenals you may want to try Ashwaghanda, it worked miracles for me but I cured the unlaying reason I had adrenal fatique, so with continued pain medication use maybe continued adrenal support is required. Something like licorce extract and sea salt. If you can't get a Dr. to help support your adrenals with hydrocortisone, you can use Isocort, it's OTC. There is a pretty good book on it called "Adrenal Fatgue: the 21st Century Stress Syndrome" but Dr. Wilson. But the specific heling techniques are really learned through others feedback on what works. Hope I can give you some ideas, let me know. joann |

Ashwaghanda? Quote:
The underlying reason for my low adrenal levels is chronic pain, and my doctors tell me that's not likely to change barring some new breakthrough in spine replacement à la Star Trek: TNG The supplements I'm taking are working pretty well, both in raising the deficient levels and in how I feel. Even better than expected in some respects. Doc

Horse smell.. LOL.. but hey it works, seriously not joking.
One of the reason behind the top 10% is because they allow sick people to participate in developing the ranges, the ranges are developed not for "healthy" people but for people not dying of disease. Your trying to be healthy. I realize your adrenals would have a hard time on pain meds.. i have had to increase my hydrocortisone, thanks for the reminder.. argh.. my pooe adrenals have given out , i'd like to get a handle on exactly why? |

Google: adrenal fatigue causes If you suspect some particular reason/trigger, try googling that with adrenal fatigue, and see if a cause/effect connection turns up in the literature. Doc

I don’t have BMS myself but I have read a few people with BMS and this was only thing that gave them relief. Remember, its got to be the dissolvable version not the regular pill form. |

I hadn't heard of this condition before, but there seems to be quite a bit of information on the web. My first thought before even looking was that it sounds like something involving the peripheral nervous system, and sure enough... Quote:

In the event we're spinning our wheels here, it might be helpful to tell us a bit more (start a separate thread for clarity) about what you know about your BMS (primary/secondary, suspected cause(s), tests, things you've already tried, etc.) Doc
