I've been taking 900mg/day Gabapentin, 25mg/day Lyrica, 10mg/4 times a day Baclofen & just completed my first week of the Butrans patch (5mg). The first day went ok, then on the beginning of the 2nd day the headache hit, of course the 2 beer I had (Canadian beer), probably didn't help. It was so bad I thought I was gonna puke. I asked my pharmacist if I could take gravol & she said yes. So I took 1, slept & then woke up in the afternoon & took another one. Jump ahead to week #2. I've adjusted to the Butrans & had friends over tonight, drank 6 beer, no problems.
So my advice to you is take a Gravol. Beer or any other alcohol isn't recommended, but I always feel better after a couple of beer.
P.s. I've only taken Percoset a couple of times & I always felt sick from them.

Default It was the gabapentin

I stopped taking the gabapentin last Friday, the headaches and fogginess and all other symptoms stopped the day after I quit the gabapentin. The butrans patch hasnt given me any problems since, thank goodness. I've had a couple drinks here and there, nothing crazy, and didn't have any problems with it.

Everyone is different of course, but the gabapentin seemed to be my problem, feeling fine now. Of course the neuropathy is back full force, but you can't win them all, huh.

Thank you for your reply!

Btw.... Percocet don't bother me at all, but I do have a friend that vomits every time she takes one.

Default extreme muscle pain from butrans patch 5mcg

Hello. 4 days ago my pm doctor prescribed me butrans patch 5mcg and hydrocodone 7.5mg. The day after I put on the patch I started feeling pain in the muscles in my leg, wasn't sure what its from as I am not a very active person due to having fibromyalgia and patellofemoral pain syndrome. The following day the pain in my legs became worse. I went to go get a massage and it relieved some of the pain. This morning I woke up and the pain spread to my whole body. I can barely move. It feels like my muscles are deteriorating. I immediately took the patch off. I have never felt pain in my muscles like this. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, how long did it take to go away.

Jilly
Sorry to hear you are having problems with patch.
I was on butrans for one week my pain was worse I was having
Horrible migraines and nausea vomiting and dizziness everyday
besides that I had a rash all around the patch. I called my doc
He said remove immediately and likely you are allergic to it. I took off the patch but it can take up to 30 hrs for the medication to clear from your system. I am hoping after this all the bad effects will have passed. I will post again with an update. For now will be back on hydrocodone which by the way they are coming out with an extended release version of for people like me who can't tolerate other meds. It is in final phase of clinical trials with the FDA.
Hope you feel better soon!
