Hi everyone
I wasn't sure where to put this question,so i came here. For the last 3 days i have had pretty bad pain on my inner thigh/groin area. I have tried resting and ultram/ibuprofen to no avail!!!! When i push on the area it feels tender -but doesn't make me jump outta my skin-so to speak. I have done some pretty heavy cleaning the past few weeks-the last time was just over a week ago..{washing walls, moving furniture} Since i started on lyrica ,i have had a soar in energy!! Up until 3 days ago,i only did general{vacuuming, dusting and laundry} I have no burning or tingling, just constant throbbing from my groin area to right at the knee on the inside only. I don't have it on the right side.. I have MAJOR doctor bills right now and i can't just go anytime i think i should. I check everything out first. So,i am hoping someone here has had this and can tell me what i can do for it. Thanks in advance~ Kell

Hello Kell
You said this happened after some pretty heavy lifting and moving things. Sounds like you may have pulled the muscle especially if you say that it is on one side. If it is a muscle sprain/strain then using ice packs, the medications or anti-inflammatories you mentioned and keeping hydrated are keys to recovery. Also try massaging the area. Up here in Alaska I have some homemade massage oil with peppermint, cedar oil and clary sage that works wonders on my muscles. Also keep the leg as elevated as you can especially when resting. If your condition persists over a week or so I would go to my doctor. If I were you I would go now, because you may have herniated the area especially if you say it is in the groin area. All the best Kim

I'm sure you remember several months ago when I had an episode of very bad pain in my left leg. I don't know if your's feels the same as mine did. The only thing I found that would help was alternating between a heating pad and and ice-pack, and pacing continuously to keep the muscle from tightening up. I also knelt on a pillow whenever I was on the computer or watching TV, or anything like that. None of the painkillers I have, whether prescription or over the counter, seemed to help one bit, and when I went to the doctor, all he could do was refer me to a specialist. But of course by the time I got to the specialist the pain was gone, and all I could do was try to explain what it felt like.
My pain lasted for six weeks, from just before Thanksgiving until Christmas. I hope yours lasts a lot less. I wish there was something more I can tell you, but I never figured out what was causing my leg pain, or how to alleviate it effectively. I send you my best wishes, though, and hope you start feeling much better soon. Good Luck, Idealist |

Sounds as if it might be obturator neuropathy.
I never knew what it was until my docs dx'd it. It runs from my groin to my knee - straight down the inner thigh. It's worse on my left side. Keeping pressure off the area, and... basically resting is what helps the most when it happens. The prob. is a total pain... and time really is the thing that helped me the most.

I am gonna have to call the doctor after lunch today.
My hips are killing me as well!! I am still having the pain in my leg too. I was feeling good for a few weeks. It is beautiful outside and i don't feel like doing anything!! I remember when you had your bout w/leg pain idealist.I hope it doesn't come back on you.I wouldn't be able to kneel on anything the way i am feeling. Only laying down with ice will help ease it a bit. Ak kid I was thinking it could be a pulled muscle too,but i did all that pulling/lifting over a week ago.So i think it is something else.....Had i pulled something loose,i would think it would hurt right away. I absolutely hate going to the doctor-everytime i have something wrong that seems odd,i am told it's fibro! I wish i had never been dxed with it now... The burning in my neck wont go away and i'm told that's fibro-I can't sit/stand w/out the burning starting up! Yet i am told to learn to live with it....It is soo hard to keep my spirits up.... I was suppose to start a new job this weekend.I was VERY worried that i couldn't handle it ...Now i KNOW i can't go in! My spouse doesn't even know i have been having this problem. He is NOT understanding and has been pushing me to go back ot work!!! I haven't told him anything.....So i am worried about the argument thats about to begin..where he tells me ,he has pain everyday too, blah, blah Thank you all for the info.... I am calling the doc this afternoon....

My son is a massage therapist,as well as physical therapist he made
me a batch of what Ak Kid reccomended, wow it helps,as well as smells good. Also ice and heat is good and leg up.Well i just gave advice of all off the above Pain of any kind is no fun,i think that's why we should listen, and be more caring to others.I do wish our Drs.out there in this world listen just a wee bit better. I was a nurse for 25 years,i saw some changes before i retired but not enough for everyone, especially for our eldery. They are more than not sent home, either with a med that is to strong, which can in up with a bad fall.Or dismisseded,ah your just grtting old.Pain is what tells are bodies something is wrong,it should never be apologized to anyone,it hurt's!! I recently reported a ER Dr.when my mother's best friend who now lives with with me,78 yrs. old and usually very active. He fell in the living room hit his hip, rear end area got right up,was ok for a day than he could not sit down stand up or lay down but not sit down..He was in such pain, called his Dr, said all he needs is some pain meds and i'm going out of town..He was in such pain i asked for help here. Bobbi and AK kid helped.thanks again. I finally had to get him into a ambulance sent him to e.r he got nervous and said the wrong hospital. He always tells Dr. to call me,he wouldn't did not check for range of motion no exray, sent the poor guy home in a cab, The driver had to lay thhe seat down poor Bob was screaming all the way home, the driver gave me his card and said lady i never seen anything like. The Er Dr. after he found out i was a er (truma) nurse agreed to talk to me.Oh we talked he made the mistake of saying oh you just don't want to take care of the old man over the holidays!!He no longer works there but will show up in a ER somewhere..Bob broke a bone in the pelvis area,it had to heal naturally and after 7 weeks of standing and laying he finally sit down. he still will have to be carefull,OH and the Spine helped get rid of ER dr. Hope everyone gets help with there pain and are listened to,never be afraid to speak up and never be afraid to write up Sue Polyneuropathys |

I'm so glad that I found this website. Last night I had the worst pain in my inner left thigh. I went up and down my inner thigh from the groin to the knee. It went back and forth. It felt like someone was in my leg squeezing my muscle from my groin to my knee and from my knee back to my groin over and over again. I had never experienced that and I was scared to death. I knew it couldn't be PAD, but I couldn't think of what it could be. I thought maybe a blood clot moving? I never had issues with blood clots. I don't even know if you can feel them moving. My inner thigh is sore. Is that a muscle spasm?
Scared to lay down tonight. |

Couple years ago developed shingles in my spine. Blisters, pain, passes. Spine senstive to the touch still. Back pain persisted since... More recently, months, pains in left groin area, ice pick pain. Then after a few months of that, along with urinary issues, slight issues, BAM groin pain shoots down left leg into knee, almost like a knee rip but it's so sensitive, shooting. PLEASE ANYONE who has gotten information on this, let me know. I joined just for this. |

At 75 and having worked hard in the hay fields bucking hay, I too had severe inner thigh problems.
Tamanu Oil is a oil from the South Pacific that blocks pain in shoulders, hands, joints in general. It also cured my hay fever and red eyes from baling in hay dust, gave me the best sense of balance I've had in years when placed behind my ears. You don't take it internally but rub it on the skin. The Nuns in the South Pacific reported they arrested the spread of Leprosy with Tamanu Oil .. Ta' man oo. Cats Claw is a mean machine for fighting Golf Swivel, tennis elbow, Skiing elbow and Hay elbow and leg tendon pain. I make "0" gel caps with it. Got mine at Mountain Rose Herbs dot com .. the machine for $10 plus the cost of a thousand gel caps? The powder for about $7. Funny thing about herbs and their stated effects .. you can throw all that out the window if you habitually flop your normal medicines .. you will probably get different reactions to herbs also. I have been sick and started taking every herb I have on the shelf .. one at a time .. for four days. Am I better .. no. Try another. For some reason I flop Bilberry and it cured what I was having a problem with .. can't even remember what was now. And, of course it was not even supposed to work for that ailment. Then, .... there are the "herbophobics" .... and some are my kids and grand kids. My Grand Daughter who trains Cutting Horses has cured them with herbs .. but will not take them herself. |
