Default yes and no

I have chronic pain from TN2 and Parkinson's, but more times than not I find the noises of daily living a good distraction from pain. other times not so much.

I feel like my chronic pain turned me into a different person. Noise irritates me to no end (and I work in a school). When the noise gets to be too much, I rub my temple. My family and coworkers respond very kindly to this silent request.

Three things I don't enjoy anymore that I used to love: listening to music, reading, and writing. Pain took them away.

Aw, Cheryl.
I was saddened to read your post and then quickly realized I was resonating with your post. I've lost my love for the same when in chronic pain, which has been 99% of the time lately.

Group hug!

That's one of the things I don't understand about this chronic pain. I feel like it changed me into someone else.

Cheryl, I think the chronic pain is so stressful, we don't have the resources left to deal with other things/people/events as easily as we used to do so. I think, for me, it can wear down my resources and steal a large portion of any patience I may have had available to help me to cope.

In addition, I have found some pain meds help the pain but also amplify sound for me. Have others found this as well?

Gentle group hug!

Thumbs down

I have chronic, debilitating nausea, sometimes with pain. I can't listen to other's noise when I do. I have to turn on the AC to drown it out.

I also often drown out noises with my AC. It' almost like "white noise." I also need the AC in hot, humid weather, thus the AC helps me with both issues. it truly serves as a buffer from noises which can, otherwise, feel "jolting."

Dearest Eva,

I must tell you, as I am sure others have as well -- despite your pain, which is truly significant, and maybe because of your pain-- you are gifted with such beautiful creative and loving energy. Thank you for sharing your beauty with each of us here. I wish you peace, comfort and JOY!
Gentle hugs!

I'm just curious to know if others out there with chronic pain are bothered by noise as well? Thanks for any comments!
Hi, yes I am bothered by pain with CRPS,fibromyalgia, especially when my pain is really bad like 10+. Loud music or other loud noises are ncluded. You don't realize the load we live with everyday until you are in chronic pain.
