Default Razzle...sorry I'm so late...

in catching your post...I've been on Keppra for about 3+ years now...With little bad in the way of s/e's UNLESS I forget my AM pill or fall asleep before my PM ones...Making up for missed doses, or worse the missed doses themselves is one strange adventure?

I couldn't tolerate the Neurontin AT ALL...sleeping 16-18 hours each day, only in 3-4 hour intervals, not dreaming, and then hallucinations...well. What good is being half dead, to with lowered pain? Life for 6-8 hours each day only? NOT! I was switched to Tramadol, didn't do anything for the pain, but I did get my brain back? I then traded off to Keppra and I have my brain and SOME, not lots of pain control...tramadol helps there when really needed. I try not to, so the pain killers can really work when really truly needed. Sigh.
Neurotin, I couldn't finish any sentence started - couldn't remember.
Keppra I can, and my mind at times goes too fast for my mouth to keep up?
Some folks complain of a 'rage'? If I've had RAGE, it was upon the addition of other meds for other things.

Just, don't forget a dose....I find myself getting foggy and off kilter for want of better words when I do. Once I get that dose into me..within 45 minutes I am much bette. I hope this helps! - j

Default Is keppra an opiod? I've tried several other opiods

Just curious - I think I read about this drug somewhere. I've tried over 40 drugs (too many to list) at highest doses. No help for pain of FM, RSD and TMJ as well as burning lips mouth and aching teeth from a medication(neuropathic mouth pain).
Desperate for any ideas.

Default drug

I would say Keppra is nothing like Neurontin . No weight gain , no brain fog . Nothing

Raz, I meant it was in the same family. Geez if the docs gave me Keppra instead of Neurontin I wouldn't weigh as much as I do.

Default Is keppra an anti convulsant?

I am curious about keppra. I am already on lyrica for the 2nd time but going up to doses above those usually used. (above 400). I am so desperate.
Just wondering about keppra. Haven't tried that drug. I also am reading about tramadol. Is that ultram? I've tried that too. Now on skelaxin but it makes me nauseated. Also on aleve as I now have TMJ pain. Add this to the Fibro and RSD , meralgia paresthetica - gosh I can't imagine one person can have all these conditons which cause chronic pain as well as disability.
I am not too hopeful about the TMJ being resolved (I got it a few months ago) as my joint is now popping and aches like crazy along with a constant terrible earache. Difficulty chewing - so sick of soup and a soft diet. Best wishes to all for pain free days. I haven't had one in so long I can't remember.

Default Keppra

is anticonvulsant , w/ other uses besides seizures.
Razzle, are you taking for pain or something else??
How did you begin--dosage-- if I recall you take 1000mg--2day??

Keppra was just prescribed to me, per my request to try--for several issues inc. headaches & nerve pain. I may have seizures too --have "Sx" but tests were negative, so not a confirmed Dx.

My Hx w/ meds has been problematic-- I don't usually give up like many may, try to endure side f/x , for benefits, while body adjusts.
Keppra seems to have fewer side f/x indicated than other meds.I've tried.

Dr gave low starting dose--250mg- 2xday; since I seem to be so senstive since last TBi-- he even said I don't know If will work RE: dose. but this DR wasn't very familiar w/ Keppra--he knows & prefers Lyrica, Cymbalta, Nuerontin & topamax---all have been tried.

any info you'd care to share, appreciated.
