Question When is it time to go back to work?

I have been out of work since 2002 and today at my pain management doc's office I possibly may have an opportunity to get back to work. Since I have been going to this office for so long, I have seen 4 front office workers come and go. Right now the Office Manager's daughter is working for the summer. We know each other pretty well at this point and were joking around that I have been coming to the office so much I could do this job. I go every two weeks for trigger point injections. I am not sure if they were serious but it seemed semi so.
So on the way home, I was thinking maybe I could do it. So I talked it over with Todd before I even did anything or say anything about it to the office. Todd is worried that I will loose my insurance(Medicare) and cut our finances in half.
Like I said all I know is what the job entails I don't know the details about benefits, hours or pay. It was just a thought.
If I do go back I will loose my long-term disability for good, but my Medicare will stay if I want to give it a try as you all know, they have guidelines for staying on Medicare and SSDI.
I feel ready if the situation is right this might be a good thing for me.
Knowing what you all know about SSDI, Medicare etc., what do you all think? Should I take a step forward and offer myself as a candidate for this job? Or should I just leave sleeping dogs lie?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
