Hi,
I have been taking Lyrica for about 14 months. My doctor is weaning off over a period of 4 weeks. How bad will the withdrawal symptoms be? |

You can use the forum search link in my siggy to find many posts about lyrica.
We have a medications forum that probably has much of that information too. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum72.html

Hi there Chastity, I know for some it is a horrid experience and then there are those who truly suffer little. I pray you will be one of those who can get through it with little angst. Whatever happens, we are all here to support you iF you are one who suffers and this is a great place to let it all out, we get what you are going through and can suggest how to minimise symptoms and or encourage you through when nothing seems to help. It may most depend on how high your dose has been and if he has prescribed you something else to help mitigate symptoms. Good luck

The mantra here is, "Everyone is different." There's nothing to say that you'll experience any withdrawal symptoms, regardless of any past experiences with other (kinds of) medications. Some folks do experience some symptoms, and they're the folks who tend to post to forums—the worse their experiences/symptoms, the more they may need support, and the more they may (need to) post. The concern is that by putting the cart before the horse—assuming it will be bad & asking how bad it will be—before you've begun tapering off, you may be psyching yourself into having a bad/worse experience than you would otherwise. I think a more positive outlook—assuming it'll be no big deal unless & until—is a better way to go. If you experience some symptoms, or have some difficulty, folks will be here for you with some constructive suggestions. Doc

I was on Lyrica for years and recently (this year) my Dr switched me to Gabapentin. I had no WD's probably because of the switch.
I would think you'd be fine weaning off over 4 weeks & by following your Dr.'s instructions exactly. I hope you have no withdrawls. Good luck
