Hey Andy, I hope you got back online to read MrsD's advice. Don't want you to suffer anymore than you already are.
Thanks for thinking of me. My posts tend to get a little theatrical when I'm down and I wear my heart on my sleeve.
There will be an answer. And better days ahead for us both.

I think we are very much alike dude...

I will test out the cold packs & see what happens...

I have been having hot baths & it eased a little while in, but outside things are biblical... Will also reduce shower temperature too...

Its funny, a few weeks being on here & Im getting more answers than fourteen months of doctors...

Cheers Mrs D :-)

Andy,

Just a bit of a similarity. Early on I was having awful pain in my right side groin and leg. The doctor said it was Bursitis and Siatica. I received Cortisone injections at the time in the butt muscle area. It would help for 3 or 4 months. I received these injections about 2 or 3 times in a year.

I asked the doctor about getting these injections this often. She said since this was in the muscle, it was not a problem. Every now and then the groin (both sides) pain comes back but only for a very short time and not as painful.

I receive similar injections. They go into my pelvis throught my buttocks & they are intended to help reduce inflammation on ligaments & untrap my nerves...

On & off, things have been worse than ever... Im a naturally positive person, but I have to admit, this is starting to wear me down...

My only hope, & its hope rather than expectation, is that this is all part of the process & once my course of cortisone is completed, things will start to settle properly...

Pleased to hear you have yours under control though Gerry. It does give a little hope to others. Myself included. Thank you mate :-)

Thank you so much MrsD...

Last night I applied an ice pack to my groin/thigh for around twenty minute & I gained enough respite to sleep without the aid of sleeping pills or marijuana for the first time in months... It was still extremely painful, as it is this morning, but the edge it took off was enough to help me get to sleep naturally, which is amazing considering how bad this current flare up has been...

You cannot believe how grateful I am to you... Again, thank you so much...

Good to hear that the icepack tip helped and that you were able to get some much needed sleep.

take care.

Ice helps to relieve my pain when it is at it's worst. I can only feel a slight coolness when I apply it to most of my foot/feet so I have to be careful of the amount of time I keep it on my feet.

I kinda freaked out when I was using icy hot roll on and realized I felt NOTHING...just slathering it on.....not a good idea as I read it can actually burn your feet. That was a wake up call for me.....I really didn't realize my feet can't feel anything. But boy do they hurt !

Good luck to you and everyone here

Have a good and hopefully pain free day

This is a good start, Andy....
Don't overdo the ice however. You might try placing on your
lower sacrum on that side that hurts the most. That may help too. Sometimes getting the nerves at the spinal level works better.

A week with ice treatments--- try twice a day, no more than 20 minutes at a time...and see what happens. I find using at around 4pm is a good time for me, because that is when my pains seem the worst.

I am definately going to do this more often. I will follow your advice of twice a day for 20 minutes & see what happens... I also think 16:00 as like you, this is when pain is starting to get at its worst, & then just before I try to sleep...

The Bursitis is under control; but that was just the start of the spinal issues; Lumbar fusion/laminectomy(along with surgeon said he had never before seen such angry red nerve); then followed by PN; narcotic meds to control pain. There's more; but save for another time.

Unfortunately, this was all before NT. Would have...could have used some additional advice.
Good luck to you "mate".
