I forget that most on here are American, lol... English terminology tends to drift in as the norm... If I ever say anything that seems 'off', or confusing, please highlight it... :-)
Cheers all. Hope everyone has a pain free night :-)

Cobber,
I'm Australian, so everything you say makes perfect sense to me. |

Yea, that ice pack thing wasnt so great after a few days... Things are worse than ever... I can now hear the ligaments in my pelvis clicking when I move... Its so painful just even to lay down...
The ice was worth a shot though & its now back to the drawing board with the pain management...

A few years ago I had a series of Epidural Injections done under light sedation by my PM doctor. While I was getting the series done over a period of time, I was taking Oxycontin, as well as Oxycodone (Percocet)for break thru pain.
After each Epidural Injection, which didn't help, the doctor increased the dosages of the meds. Since there wasn't any improvement, the dosages went up to 60mgs. Oxycontin every 6 hrs. and a max of 4 Oxycodone per dayfor break thru pain. I have been on this dose for the past 4 years. I take the Oxycontin religiously every 6 hrs. including setting my alarm during the night to wake me up to take my next dose (I have meds with bottle of water on nightstand). Often cut a few of the Oxycodone in half and usually take 3 - 3 1/2 between doses of the Oxycontin for break thru pain. Having a regular schedule has kept the pain tolerable. While pain is still 24/7, I can at least go out to lunch/dinner for a couple of hours once a week or visit family for a short time. Hubby enjoys getting out; even if only for a short time. I'm not writing this as a recommendation; just info on how I manage to get thru each day without spending most of the day on the couch or in bed. I still am able to do laundry, etc., as well as quick easy lunches/ dinners for us. While I do not like being dependent on narcotics; I know most of the time it allows me to be able to do things I would not otherwise be able to accomplish. Andy, by the way, the groin (both sides) were giving me problems the other day. I used some of the Epsom Salt Lotion (Mrs. D's suggestion for many areas) there. It really calmed things down quite a bit. Gerry |
