Default I wrote this POEM about chronic pain

I used to live in gratitude
Until that fateful day
When an accident some years ago
Took most of my quality of life away
I used to have a thirst for life
And a fulfilling purpose every day
I embraced and learned from both good and bad
With whatever was tossed my way
I used to have an active life
Both professional and social in many a way
But now I yearn and wait to die
Since that fateful day
I feel my life has no purpose
Nor a quality of life
Because since that fateful day
Chronic pain has shrouded my " life"
No one can fully understand
Unless they have walked in my shoes
So I try to battle my daily chronic pain
That has given me anxiety and the blues
What will finally help my pain
Get to a manageable and tolerable state
So I can try to pick up some of the pieces of my shattered life
Since that fateful date.......

thank you so much for sharing
your thoughts
thank you for your honesty
in your poem
i walk in your shoes
fight it everyday
i have family that needs me
though i walk in your shoes every morning
by the end of the day i am here
for only God knows
love
me

Heart Thank You!

Dearest Vintagewine,

Thank you for sharing your poem.
It takes a lot of courage, I feel, to share openly about the deep challenges of living in chronic pain.

I know I tend to get into denial about the severity, by finding a way to separate myself from the most severe pain.

When we share honestly, we have to be present with the pain and mindful of the impact it has upon our daily lives, just as stated in your poem.

I am very touched by your candid sharing.

Much Love to you.

With Admiration and Gratitude,

DejaVu

Thanks very much for your kind and heartfelt replies.

Although I was told that writing can be somewhat cathartic, I still cry EVERY time I read it.

I feel that all of you can understand and relate to what I wrote ;
each in your own unique way.

Have a blessed day

Default Oh that chronic pain

Never a morning am I not visited by my ultimate time in PAIN
WE YOU I AND MANY
MUST WALK HAND IN HAND TOGETHER AS ONE
we understand how to wait for our days end
Bitter sweet thought
And a thought it shall stay
I promised my family I will NOT take my life
For in this horrible time of pain
Faith that there are others who Will listen
and WILL hold you us up when we are calling out
"I can't take this anymore"
PLEASE TAKE THE PAIN AWAY
and as time passes and The Lord has me wake
I am certainly not going to omit the idea he the father
isn't done with me
I am brought to my knees at times
And when the pain is that great
I say
Dear Father your spirit lives in me
Help me not to forget that
That I we are still around because
we may not be done yet
A n d have work to do
Or lessons to be learned
This is what I hold on to
along with the group of friends
I can count on if I must
Thank you for being a friend
Love
Me
