I've had 2 series of injections in my lumbar area for a bulging disc that was pressing on a nerve. They were done with guided imagery. They weren't that painful and worked great. Be sure to have a qualified reputable doctor do it.

Unhappy Paralisys from Steriod injections

I live in Charlotte NC I use to go to pain center in Concord, NC for steriod injections for chronic neck pain. I had a shot in October 2010 and was left paralyzed from the neck down. I suffered what they call an incomplete injury at C5 and C6. Since that time I have regained alot of my movement back, but to date neither of my legs are back to normal, I can't use my left hand at all and will probably never be back to my old self. My advise - if you are getting steriod injections near your spine - stop - don't do it anymore.
