Question controlled meds description

I know I must have the information somewhee, but have a mega headache, and can't locate it...but:
I know that the Duregesic is controlled,; are Klonopin, soma, sulendac (anti-inflamatory), Bacalofin?

I pick up my family members script for Brand-Duregesic, at a two week supply (48 hour replacement, there is no overlap to 3 day as the skin breaks down really bad by hour 48). But this month the doctor was going to be gone a week and gave a script for one week he would be gone and a recheck when he got home yesterday, so refilled today.

At the pharmacy today they said there were 8 controlled items picked up in just over a month? He stated they were not all the Duregesis's, but controlled med's and we should seek a different pain doctor that specialized in pain mangement instead of the GP.

Also there is Trazadone, and she may have had a cough syrup about a month ago for bronchitis, Phenegan? Eye drops (would the eye drop be depro medrol maybe to numb the eye? Not real certain, I better look for the tiny bottle.

But these meds are confusing me now to what to be alert to. All doctors, eye specialist, gyn, dental, all have the list and doses of anything perscribed. If perscribed the cough medicine, and eye drops, are a red flag.....life is really complicated.(the eye surface was scratched as if a piece of glass was in it and rubbed, horrid pain and burning)

he has a concern for respirtory arrest.
I guess as we filled medications as the eye drops which he did not have, and the cough medicine he did not have, along with the one week supply of DUregesic at the second pharmacy he was anxious.

Also in Flordia last week I had to refill the Soma.HE knows the family, is not saying there is abuse, but too many meds and he did not know about them and concerned as for safety.
I was a bit upset as I do not want to look like there is abuse or sneakiness going on. I need to know what to be alert to. I made sure each script he did not have, where I was filling it each time.

I felt embarassed.

To find out what meds are controlled, you can look them up in the PDR (or online PDR).

Any med that is class II (class 2) is a controlled substance. Some class III (class 3) meds are sometimes considered to be "controlled" depending on the med and the pharmacy and the state.

Default Thanks

Hi Liz,
I know from work the meds under Schedules, but it floored me when the nasty comments from the pharmisist came.

I know it there was a med to numb the eye from the sever lacerations on it, I know tehre was a cough syrup, then there were weekly script refills instead of once a month for close monitoring...

One of the refills the Pharmacy did not have so I called to another...so it ended up that three of the six were filled somehwere else, but he knew!
He acted like they were all pain meds???
I am still hurt. He should have known the eye med and cough would show up controlled without me digging on the Internet.
