Default Accupuncture???

Has anyone tried this? I have an appointment on Monday to give it a whirl. So I was wondering of this works for people and what should I expect.
Thanks everyone!

Well I had the acupuncture done today and unfortunately I feel it did nothing for me. Luckily I got the treatment for free as a trial run to see how it works.
Oh well back to the drawing board!

Default Acupuncture experience

I had acupuncture for Fibro and RSD. The minute she put the first needle in my head I knew I was in trouble. Severe headache within the first few minutes. I let her put the rest in other places and had no reaction.
However, I had to get trigger point injections in my head for a long time to get rid of the headaches caused by the acupuncture.
That was just my experience.
A friend had it done for a trigger finger (something like that ) and he was really helped. Others report good results. Mine was not a positive experience.

Default Anyone have a positive experience?

My family is really pushing me to use accupuncture and I'm afraid of it. I have fibro, PN in the feet and some back problems, so I was hoping someone had a good experience. Anyone out there???

Hi Nancy

I am a big advocate for acupuncture

It has helped me with lower back pain and also with mysterious foot pains I was having a few years ago
In addition, after I had pesticide poisoning (sprayed by a malathione spewing plane while walking on the beach at dawn on Captiva Island) our therapist used a special technique that really helped me with the detox process

My son has Tourette Syndrome and Crohn's Disease and acupuncture is by far the most beneficial of all his treatments.

I am a coward re injections, giving blood etc........but I was astonished at how I truly did not feel the acupuncture needles.

I know other people who have also had acupuncture for chronic pain and have benefitted tremendously

Do choose an acupuncture therapist with care tho....someone with clinical experience is my recommendation, ie somone who practises for therapy rather than philosophy, if that makes sense

HTH

Default Minor help

I went for acupuncture several times a week for well over a year for my migraines. That was before my back injury. I had no trouble at all with the needles. You can't feel them if it is done right - with the exception of a few places. My migraine journal showed a little improvement so I kept at it as it definitely takes time and was cumulative for me. When I had my accident that left me with a spinal injury, It became much more difficult to get there and I no longer have an income. I did try acupunture for my back for a couple of months, but with absolutely no help. I gave up after that.

My doctor used little tubes with the needles inside so you really just felt the tube pressing on your skin. I never even knew when most needles went in. Acupuncture sounds horrible, but the needles are so much thinner than needles it just isn't the same as getting a shot! (I put that in for anyone who is considering it and hasn't tried it.)

Thanks everyone. I had it done and it didn't make a difference. I cannot afford to get another session so that one experiment will be my last. It didn't do any good. But you all are right, I barely felt the needles going in. I felt them more coming out strangely enough.
By the way, Abasaki I love that picture of the French Bulldog. Is it yours???
