Default A rainy night senseless brain fart question

Okay this may be from the fact that it is almost 1:30 in the morning, pouring like the dickens and I am very tired but I was wondering about something....here it goes.
Do you all remember the little ditty that goes....

Its raining, its pouring
The old man is snoring.
Bumped his head,
When he went to bed,
And he couldn't get up in the morning.

Do you think that he couldn't get up because he was dead???
Don't ask me why I am thinking about this. Like I said its raining like crazy and I was singing this song in my head and started wondering why the old man couldn't get up.
Now if he is dead, why would parents allow children to sing this song about a dead old man? Then again the song "Ring Around the Rosie" is about the symptoms of the Plague. Why are these children's songs about things so morbid?

Ah the late night ramblings of a CPer!
