Hi Jabra,
And a belated Welcome. Sorry, my eyesight didn't allow me to see the Colloid Cyst Icon lit up. Anyway, I'm sure you can trust your Doctor over this Cyst. At least s/he has you down to look at it again next year. In my case, with an expanding Arachnoid Cyst, my idiot Neuro won't discuss it at all. Try not to worry about it and wait til next year to see if there is any change. Dave.

Hi Jabra Taweel,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. Are you still having the fever and pain now? Scroll down to Colloid Cyst on the pdf http://www.abta.org/secure/resource-...eets/cysts.pdf If you're having such terrible pain and also a fever, I would be concerned about the build up of pressure. I don't have a Colloid Cyst so I'm just going on what I do know and have read. |

Hi Jabra,
With the headaches and fever I would go back to your Doctor and get thoroughly checked out. You always have to be careful. It may be unconnected, but it is best to be sure. If you are still not happy, please seek the opinion of another Doctor. Do you take any pain killers for the headaches, and are they effective? How long do the attacks last? Wishing you well, Dave.

I agree with Dave.
It's much better to be checked out again. Maybe you'll need to be more persistent with your doctor. btw, there is also a Hydrocephalus Forum here and perhaps the members who visit there might know if your symptoms of fever and headache could be related to build up of pressure. |

I was told the same thing "....ahhh forget about it, wait and see..." I was having symptoms and they (the dr's) weren't listening. Then one day driving down the road and the lights went out, I couldn't see . It shocked the living daylights out of me. Dangerous to me and everybody else on the road. It took me 3 different dr's till I got one of them to listen. Turned out I had every right to be concerned as the pressure within my skull was HUGE. Within 3 weeks I was having surgery. They tried to tell me it was all stress. Past stress, present stress and future stress they said. No bloody wonder I was stressed, and this was just adding to it. "Here take a tablet, that'll help..." For many, many years I was told there is nothing wrong, its all in your head. Little did I know just how true this statement was but. Dr's think they know it all, but only you know your body. If you think there is something a miss, if you think there is something to follow up, then do it. Find a dr who will listen. Like I say it took me a bit of 'bashing my head against a brick wall' with dr's to get someone to listen and I had to see a few to get anything done, but be persistent, don't let them fob you off. It can be very demoralizing and so very STRESSFUL being told "It won't matter" "it's ok" "wait for a while" but if you are concerned, then its up to you to follow it up. Let's face it, they won't follow it up. So do it yourself, get the answers you need, even if its only to keep your own mind at peace. Unfortunately, that's what I had to do. But pleased I did Merl1n |

Guys it's not a fevere sorry just a typo, I meant to say severe. The headaches are nearly gone now though. He gave xenex and elatrolet for the stress. I saw another doctor and he said the same thing. And the CT scan didn't show hydrocephalus, and that was two months ago. I'll post the CT scans once I get home from work.

Hi Jabra,
Elatrolet is known as amitriptyline usually here, an anti-depressant. Xanax is for treating stress. So no conventional pain killers, although ADs can help. Even if the problem is not your Cyst - and I cannot say one way or the other - continuing headaches, even if they are improving, warrant another visit to the Doctor. Dave.

Dave the thing is I went to the doctor 3 times, and he kept saying the same thing. Hell in the beginning he didn't even see the cyst at all, it wasn't until the radiologist report said I had a cyst. The doctor is a neurosurgeon by the way and he says the cyst is too small (5x5 mm) to be causing any headaches. I also saw a neurologist and he said the same thing. I am planning on seeing a neurosurgeon in Israel. But as you said, at least he has me scheduled for a follow up MRI. He said to keep it under surveillance every year. But I might get it checked in another four months (which is six months from the date of discovery).
