Suggest you contact Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati Ohio. That is where my surgery was done and they have experience with these kind of tumors.

I have been recently diagnosed with a 5mm colloid cyst without hydrocephalus. I had gone to the doctor because I had excruciating pain in my right side of the head. He told me it was stress induced headache and gave me xenex and elatrolet. But he said to take a CT scan to be sure I didn't have anything more serious. In the scan they found the cyst but the doctor insists it isn't dangerous and it isn't responsible for my headaches. He says to wait and take a CT scan or MRI in a year or so. Do you think he is correct in this or should I be more scared about this thing?

The doctor says I should forget about the cyst.

Hi Jabra,

And a belated Welcome. Sorry, my eyesight didn't allow me to see the Colloid Cyst Icon lit up. Anyway, I'm sure you can trust your Doctor over this Cyst. At least s/he has you down to look at it again next year. In my case, with an expanding Arachnoid Cyst, my idiot Neuro won't discuss it at all.

Try not to worry about it and wait til next year to see if there is any change.

Dave.

Thank you dave. I am worried about the symptoms that I have, such as the fevere and painful headache that I had in the right side of the head. Is it typical to have pain in one side of the head in a colloid cyst? Also the most powerful headaches where nearly always at night and they used to wake me up.

Hi Jabra Taweel,
Welcome to NeuroTalk.

Are you still having the fever and pain now?

Scroll down to Colloid Cyst on the pdf
http://www.abta.org/secure/resource-...eets/cysts.pdf

If you're having such terrible pain and also a fever, I would be concerned about the build up of pressure.
I don't have a Colloid Cyst so I'm just going on what I do know and have read.

Hi Jabra,

With the headaches and fever I would go back to your Doctor and get thoroughly checked out. You always have to be careful. It may be unconnected, but it is best to be sure.

If you are still not happy, please seek the opinion of another Doctor.

Do you take any pain killers for the headaches, and are they effective? How long do the attacks last?

Wishing you well,

Dave.

Guys it's not a fevere sorry just a typo, I meant to say severe. The headaches are nearly gone now though. He gave xenex and elatrolet for the stress. I saw another doctor and he said the same thing. And the CT scan didn't show hydrocephalus, and that was two months ago. I'll post the CT scans once I get home from work.

Hi Jabra,

Elatrolet is known as amitriptyline usually here, an anti-depressant. Xanax is for treating stress. So no conventional pain killers, although ADs can help.

Even if the problem is not your Cyst - and I cannot say one way or the other - continuing headaches, even if they are improving, warrant another visit to the Doctor.

Dave.
