Book DocJohn- forum thread display

Hi DocJohn,

Just editing and putting this in here at the beginning of the thread, to make it clearer first off (I thought I just couldn't find a way to change options, but there isn't one) so....

At present the forum pages list 20 thread topics each. Is there any way to give us an option to view more thread topics per page (like on the google preferences where you can choose to view 20, 30 or 50 links per page)?

I ask because the RSD forum has got quite busy and new posts are being shuffled back to page 2 (which no one reads)...

OK! That's a precis of my posts that follow, I didn't explain myself well when I first posted, sorry... )

original post:

Hi,

Quick question: is there any way to increase the number of threads shown per page, please?

I see the option to increase the number of posts pp, but not threads....(do I need specs?).

I ask because every now and again we all converge on the forum (RSD) at the same time by chance, and post away - great, obviously, except that the very recent posts from just yesterday get pushed to page 2 which, as you all know, nobody looks at

At present it shows 20 threads pp - how can I (or we if the option really isn't there) increase that?

all the best!

Good Morning Curious - Yup, start of the working day here, tomorrow your time, here we live in the future ----> twilight zone music....

Many thanks - but no, that's not what I'm after, I want to have more *threads* per page, (already done the posts bit, got 40 pp) - I've ferreted around the site but can't for the life of me see how to get more than 20 *threads* listed...

all the best

artist what thread display setting do you use?

User CP- Thread Display Options

Thread Display Mode
Here you can choose the display mode for threads. For a full explanation of the modes, please view this help page.
Thread Display Mode:

I use Linear - Newest First -

If you have Threaded or Hybrid -that might take up more lines or space??

Hi Jo,

I see exactly what you see, but it's not the mode I want to change, it's the number/amount of threads listed per page I would like to change. At present it seems to be set (and fixed) to show 20 threads, on all forums.

I was looking for a way to increase the number of threads listed per page - exactly the same as when you go to Google preferences, you can choose to get 20, 30 or 50 links per page, I'd like to be able to choose to see, say 20, 30 or 50 threads listed per page.

Just to explain why: yesterday we had a lot of posters, some replying to older threads...by the end of the day the first forum page was full of the threads with replies, plus new threads, from "today", leaving just one thread at the bottom from "yesterday". But on the second page there were very recent postings, from "yesterday" and before, all very relevant and topical. That's all fine, except that many people (me included) don't look at anything other than the first page.

If the pages could list *more than 20 threads" per page, it would include more of the most recent posts.

This hasn't been a problem till now, but we've just had an influx of new members, so the number of daily posts has increased.

Clear as mud?? I think this may be one for whoever has to set defaults and suchlike in the vbulletin programme, I can't see a way to change the settings. But I don't see any reason not to allow us the option to choose how many threads per page we can see listed...

all the best!

Question Oooops, no...

Help needed...I changed the title, but I can't change the thread title - can a mod do that? Or must I post separately saying Doc John look at this thread, please.

I'd like to change the main thread title to:
DocJohn - forum thread display

Many thanks - all the best
