what I suggest
skmklal ...
I don't think ANYONE here can tell you what is going on (unless there is a psychic neurologist lurking this forum). You have only been to the eye doctor -- you must next have the MRI of your brain and then the results of the MRI and the eye exam will be sent to the neurologist and HE will be the one to make sense of it all. I know it is frustrating to have to wait for a diagnosis. If you were hospitalized, all these tests would be done in 2 days at most, but when outpatient, you wait for your appointments. There are many conditions that cause optic nerve inflammation and swelling, and if the opthomologist could have made a diagnosis, he would have, but all he could to is tell you what he found. Once the neurologist has the MRI and the Opthomologist's report, he will have have the clues to start to put it all together. I hope that whatever it is, that it can be resolved by your doctors. In the meantime, I know that every last one of us can understand how you are feeling. It is scary, so scary, to not know. :grouphug: I hope your waiting time will not be long. In the meantime, if any of your symptoms become markedly more severe, I would advise that you go to the emergency room. Teri |
Teri is right; you do need to be thoroughly examined and dx'ed by your doctors, but I can tell you that I know optic nerve swelling to be a sign of hydrocephalus. This condition, known for being congenital and dx'ed in infancy, can actually occur at any age. If you find out you have it (your MRI will probably reveal it if you do), you'll need to see a neurosurgeon. A neurologist cannot treat this condition.
Good luck, and please let us know, LIZARD :) |
optic nerve swelling
Wow:) OMGosh I can't believe the responses I have gotten!! I don't know how to respond to all of you except to just give one general thank you to every1 for caring enuf to answer. Okay, I also had the MRI on Thurs. I had the eye appt. on Wed., I seen the neurologist Thurs. before the MRI,(I don't know why) but she didn't have the report from the eye exam and pics and so she didn't have anything she could really go on. She had me do a series of things and then ordered some blood tests. All she could say at that time was that she was concerned about my bp it was 146/100, she says thats too high. So anyway it's just a waiting game. Do you think since I haven't heard anything that could mean good news? Again thnx to everyone. I am going to the other forum that u guys mentioned.

Your high blood pressure could be the culprit in a lot of your symptoms. I have extremely high blood pressure and a couple of days off my meds and I experience a lot of your symptoms.
