Under MS, a sub-forum for Primary Progressive/Secondary Progressive. Definately different then RRs (Relapsing- Remitting.) Different in many ways.
No meds really for us, onset tends to be at older age. No remitting or steroids that work for us. About 15% I read of MS population. Some PP/SPMSers here here already.

Just found this section-missed it earlier on.
Being a bit grumpy sometimes I get a little annoyed when the threads I am interested in might show a new post, but when I go in it is just a word game.
Why can't we keep these dedicated threads on topic, so that they are not clogged up with irrelevant posts, and have a dedicated Games thread for those who participate in them?

peter, most of the games are in the OT type of forums.

can you give me a link so i know which threads you are talking about? you can pm them to me if you wish.

there is only *one* thread on the chronic pain forum associated with games and it is clearly marked OT (for Off Topic) Word Association Game

the rest of the threads on that forum are all related to chronic pain, and so it seems fair to have one light hearted thread running. :o

If you are subscribed to get alerts on new posts to that forum you may just want to unsubscribe from that specific thread

Hi Chemar, it also happens with the Fybromyalgia and chronic fatique thread.
So are you saying that despite having a specific thread for word games, you would also have no problem with each dedicated medical thread also having word games?
If that is the case, what is the point of the word game thread?
It just seems a bit odd to me.

I think we are talking of different things

the Threads are the various discussions within each separate forum, of which the NeuroTalk community is made up

people dont play games on the threads related to say discussions of meds. There is a specific subforum for games in our Lighter Side Forum, but we dont object to a thread or two in the medical forums being game orientated as we know that folks sometimes need that

..the other threads there are related to the illness and when they arent, they are labelled OT in their title to let members know these are OFF TOPIC
You can "unsubscribe" from *any* specific thread so as to not get alerts of new posts on threads that you have no interest in, and so by unsubscribing from any of the game threads, you will no longer get notifications of new posts to them

Threads then get Replies or Posts by members.

if you use the New Post button, you may want to skip certain forums that are the Off Topic Social Type. since most forums only have 1 or 2 social type of games the titles remain the same and the threads get really long. those should be easy for you to spot and skip.

Hi Chemar and Curious. Looks like i didn't explain it too well. I try to minimise my PC time as that is what got me into this illness in the first place-many, many years of computer and office work.

One of my main jobs was to write quality systems and work procedures, and then audit them later. I always had a good eye for things that didn't look right or could be done better, so that fitted in well with my job.
One old saying that still has great relevance is "a place for everything, and everything in its place." And auditing always revealed slips and transgressions-it just happens.

So with this forum, I have noticed that you have a place for everything, but not everything is in its place-games.
This is probably of no real consequence, it's just in my nature to notice these things and bring them to someone's attention.
As you say, most of the word games are in the right Topic, just those in Weight Loss Support, Chronic Pain and Fybromyalgia that are not.
When i go to this forum, I go to the home page and look for new posts in the topics that interest me. Currently they are arthritis, chronic pain, and spinal disorders, as well as the general ones at the top.

Now others may just go directly to their preferred Topic, say weight Loss support. If that is the only topic that they look at, then it is perfectly understandable that they would be unaware of the Games and Such sub-forum in On the Lighter Side, and anyway would want everything in the one Topic. So I understand that and it makes good sense for them.

I'm in a craft forum which i look at infrequently as the threads so often degenerate into very personal chit-chat. There are no Topic headings, just threads and replies, so it can be very frustrating trying to follow the threads. This has been complained about by many, but they say that is the way it will be run.

Another forum I'm in takes a firmer line on off-topic replies, and will re-direct them to the right thread when warranted. This one doesn't have Topis either, just threads and a poor search function, so invariably people give up trying to find an existing thread and start a new one. A lot also depends on what wording they use in their thread heading.

Now this forum is exceptional, in my book, and should be a model for others to emulate.
Well laid out, clear and easy to read, well sorted Topics which make it so easy to find what interests you, the New Posts option and all of the other thoughtful bits and pieces that have been included.
So it is in this context that I offered my observation that all games should be in the same place. Irrespective of that, all power to you for a wonderful forum.
