How about...
HCSCF HWCPS HWPSC I checked, they are all available as .org's Now everyone is sitting at their computer and wondering "what the heck is wrong with Liz? Those aren't even words! :D But an idea hit me when checking my email today... and I had newsletters from LAF and BOMC The Lance Armstrong foundation is LAF.org No one calls it "laugh" or LAF, they all call it the Lance Armstrong Foundation - but the website name is easy to remember, easy to type, etc... The book of the month club is BOMC.com no one calls that one by it's letters, and no one tries to pronounce BOMC as a word... So what if we did something like that? We could have a longer name that better communicates what we are and what we do, while still being easy to type. Think about it, everyone already calls this place BT2 because it's easier to say/type that braintalk2. So back to my letters... HCSCF - HealthCare Support Community Forum HWCPS - HealthWise Community for Patient Support *or* Health and Wellness Community for Patient Support HWPSC - HealthWise Patient Support Community *or* Health and Wellness Patient Support Community Maybe some of you who are better at word-play can find a group of letters that is a word and an acronym... the only word I could come up with sucked (COPS - Community for Online Patient Support) I also thought of PatCHeS but that is already taken as a .org (Patient Community for Health Support) But playing with the first few letters of the word(s) was fun too :) So does anyone else like the idea of letters/acronym? It sure make availability for the domain name easier. So if you like the idea and you are good at word play, I challenge you to find a good acronym that is also a word! ~Liz |
I meant to add....
Using letters/acronyms could also make it easier to make a great logo later on :D |
I see where you are going with that Liz and it would be a good idea IF we could come up with an acronym that is a catchy keyword for what this community is.......that is important because people often find support communities from Google, either by keywording their specific condition or a generalised term.
personally I dont think the word patient should be included because not everyone here is a patient........ and yes, I also agree that we should be thinking about Logos while thinking about names sure are some great ideas being put forward here :) re colours..........I am partial to greens, with grey/lavender twotone being my 2nd choice |
Just read the whole thread and like neurotalk the best as a possible new name.
The titles that use the word 'health' seem to much like all the general healthboards which I personally hate, the title should reall still reflect that most of us have disorders that encompass neuro. manifestations (I think I got that right), and dare I say that being in the UK where words have different meanings the word health in particular reminds me immediately of our rotten system National HEALTH service, this set up here is I hope is going to be more welcoming to the international community than OBT. Sorry if that lot is muddled but... Gillian |
I thought I'd toss in a couple. :)
Mindful Science GABA Grey And Brain Associations (for long?) Definition of GABA: It is an anti-stress, anti-anxiety, calming and relaxing nutrient. Hey! No fair... I was thinking of acronyms and colours and names this morning at 7 a.m... but the baby distracted me! :D :D :D Great minds think alike! :) or both Grey And Brain Associations: Mindful Science |
You guys are SO hard to keep up with! Not that I think I'm your secretary or anything, just thought it would be nice to see them listed. :D
Now I'm wondering if we should have one long poll first on which names from the list to KEEP and get rid of the others. Then have a final poll, LOL. Here is this one.
And for anybody that cares, here is what they would look like in a URL.
|
Hi Doody. :)
You've done a great job! I added one on my post that combined my two: GABA: Mindful Science I think I like that one best of my suggestions. It'll be fun to go through all of them when the poll comes out. :) BTW: This was a great creative morning exercise! ;) |
LOL. Can we vote on anything yet?
And for anybody that cares, here is what they would look like in a URL.
|
Hmmm, well I submitted a TON, and to make things easier I think we could probably drop the Chronic, Disorder/Disorderly, andIllness headings, as those didn't spark any positive responses.
Now this is just my opinion, but I wd also drop the Psych headings as we are neuro-oriented and Doc already has that area well-covered with PsychCentral. Just trying to pare it down a bit or we'll have 1 or 2 votes for each name  |
I didn't see mine...
Younameitwegotit............:D |
oh alffe...you just want us to name the forum after your purse. :p
|
Patient to Patient Support Community
Caring and Sharing Care2Share Share2Care BroughtTogether2Support or BeingTogether2Support (BT2S) LOL (that one is a joke) :D |
To bad DocJohn is DocJohn and not DocBrian....
Because if we had a Brian we could be BrianTalk... one little letter swap and it the meaning completely changes. (this one is a joke too - just being clear so Doody can ignore my funny ha ha's when making the list) |
That's why I thought it would be a great idea to at least have a vote or poll on which ones to keep or get rid of.
But I don't know how you'd do a "Keep" or "Don't Keep" poll. Is there an option to vote Yes or No for multiple objects? I don't remember. Let's just do something and get this over with, I say. Doc John, why don't you just pick it and give it to us. Oi vey. :D |
I think we should call us all the Mad Hatters and be done with it, LMAO! :D

Maybe BT2 Q+A ... As In Questions And Answers
|
I do like the idea of BT2 in there somewhere cuz that is what we are affectionately (well for the most part:p ) known as
|
Doody, thanks for the comprehensive list, it definitely helps!
If people have some favorites or preferences from the above list, let us know and it'll help us boil this list down into something more manageable for the actual poll, which I'd like to start tomorrow.... Thanks! John |
yep..BT2 is already a good habit. i'd like to see that in whaterver name.
also, not all the forums are neuro type of forums. beth brought up a good point too. keep it positive. |

And besides, what was the one poll about earlier on where Neuro Talk got it, or is my brain remembering incorrectly? |
NBT - NeuroBodyTalk
N2BT - Neuro to Body Talk B2NT - Body to Neuro Talk Has a neurology theme, but includes body to show that we have more that just neurological topics.... |
I'd like to see something that indicates more of the range about what's 'really' involved here (more than talking heads or talking brains).
I was thinking of something along the lines of Head, Heart'n Med Talk -->> www.head-heart-med-talk.org -->> with a logo that includes a heart: Headhttp://chocolate-moose.p5.org.uk/MINIS/heart-005.gifMed Talk Barb |
These are the ones I like:
healthmatters docshealthhaven - playing off DocJohn's name, only it might lead to the impression that the forums more doctor-oriented/focused. meditalk share2care wegotnerve :D younameitwegotit :D I also liked neurotalk, only, to me, it indicates the forums are more neurological while the forums are actually more encompassing (also of ortho., progressive and additional health conditions, etc.). |

:p I think we should keep up with the names.... Look at it this way we are giving you something to do and I DO enjoy seeing all the names in one post so I don't have to dig......:p Thanks Hun |
K, I'll start. You guys go ahead and use the list I made if it helps you any. :)
These are my preferences, not that that means a darned thing. I guess I don't mind having BT2, but still...not really sure on that. I don't see the need to be associated with, or copying them, in any way. If we do include BT2 in the title, I hope there is a sticky thread for all newcomers who ask, "What does BT2 mean?"

LOL okay. I guess I was born to be a secretary for the rest of my life but geesh. I also guess we're all still not on the same page about neuro/psycho/general health or whatever either. :D PSYCHOHEALTH! Why didn't I think of that before. Neuro Psychos? LOLOL  Yeah, baby...keep 'em comin! |
Dang, psycho.org is taken, woulda been perfect for the lot of us.
|
Where is KD she was on a roll last night......
:p She had a few catchy ones too...(and she knows the one I am referring to):p Oh KD where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu? hugs |
Isn't there an option for a multiple choice poll? Perhaps the volume of name choices could be wheedled down that way. And, aren't polls limited to 10(?) options?
Maybe....several multiple choice polls could be run simultaneously, with all(?) the choices, and we could choose the one(or ones) from each post that we'd like to see considered in the REAL poll. I suppose the poll will be run here, right? If so, only those who are currently discussing this will know to vote. Can an announcement be made, that appears on ALL boards, to come here to vote? |
I know I am bit late today...
but this just struck me:
C.N.S.Central (CyberNeuroSupportCentral) I loved Witt's idea ... and I still like the Central idea too. This identifies the cyber activities This keeps the Neuro Support is what happens here Central is linking to PsychCentral CNS=neuro also Next will be a logo perhaps? LOL |
Quote:
Yes the vote will be here as Doc stated he will start this week on a poll... As far as an announcement to vote I will make sure KD and/or Doc see this suggestion.... Hugs |

I'm all-a-fluster about the neuro thing, but if I don't get kicked out because my main problems are pain from physical junk, then I don't really care. Oh wait, there is that AVM lying in wait in my brain. Ha, got my ticket. |

www.healthmatters.com
www.healthtalkcentral.com www.neurofamilies.com www.neurofamily.com www.neurotalksupport.com these look great in URL'S :) edited to add that they are all available!! |
Yup, looks good, let's do it. :D
|
I've shortened my list to my favorites
These are the ones I like best. They most reflect that the purpose of these forums is all that which is within the scope of neurology.
It always made me frown before was that brain part. The brain is one third of the nervous system. There is also the spinal cord. Together with the brain, the two form what is called the Central Nervous System. But there is still another part - the various specialized nerves that swarm throughout our bodies. All three together. Can't get away from that. Okay, these are the four I like best and how they would look in a url.
And we must remember that the a name must be short, easy to remember, easy to spell, and, finally, easy to read correctly in a url. And, in my opinion, it should have absolutely no reference to OBT - no matter how subtle. We don't need any connection to make this a whole and healthy totally new place. IMO. - Theresa |
Yup, yup, I agree Theresa. No BT, and yes, looks nice in a url.
And a lot argue that there is no room for other than neuro participation, but I did like the way BT1 expanded to include so many other topics. Makes it easy to be in 1 place with different health issues a person may have. Like I've said before, the way I found BT1 was searching for information on headaches and meds after a horrendous car accident. Then I discovered the depression board, suicide, eventually fibromyalgia, etc. If this place only covered neuro, I'd have to find a different home or just plain old none. Plus, I've met so many nice people on the internet and have met tons of them, all with varying illnesses. It was those various illnesses that we managed to meet on the same board. I still like the idea of having Central in the name, but no biggie. Just cause I wanna be like Doc John and Psych Central when I grow up. :D Doc John rocks. (Well, except he's making us kids decide on the name, the big bully.) ;) |
just a thought.........
DocJohn.......will the current URL still be functional? and redirect when the new one is set up? many people have bookmarked braintalk2.org and we also have quite a large number of posts already indexed on Google and the other SEs as to the name I still would really like to have more than just neuro in the title eg neuro health central or neuro health support forums etc would just give a broader scope of the way this board is evolving whereas clever names are catchy, yet we do have to also think about keywords re the SEs JMHO |
Yup, yup, I like Neuro Health Central.
