How about...
HCSCF HWCPS HWPSC I checked, they are all available as .org's Now everyone is sitting at their computer and wondering "what the heck is wrong with Liz? Those aren't even words! :D But an idea hit me when checking my email today... and I had newsletters from LAF and BOMC The Lance Armstrong foundation is LAF.org No one calls it "laugh" or LAF, they all call it the Lance Armstrong Foundation - but the website name is easy to remember, easy to type, etc... The book of the month club is BOMC.com no one calls that one by it's letters, and no one tries to pronounce BOMC as a word... So what if we did something like that? We could have a longer name that better communicates what we are and what we do, while still being easy to type. Think about it, everyone already calls this place BT2 because it's easier to say/type that braintalk2. So back to my letters... HCSCF - HealthCare Support Community Forum HWCPS - HealthWise Community for Patient Support *or* Health and Wellness Community for Patient Support HWPSC - HealthWise Patient Support Community *or* Health and Wellness Patient Support Community Maybe some of you who are better at word-play can find a group of letters that is a word and an acronym... the only word I could come up with sucked (COPS - Community for Online Patient Support) I also thought of PatCHeS but that is already taken as a .org (Patient Community for Health Support) But playing with the first few letters of the word(s) was fun too :) So does anyone else like the idea of letters/acronym? It sure make availability for the domain name easier. So if you like the idea and you are good at word play, I challenge you to find a good acronym that is also a word! ~Liz |
I meant to add....
Using letters/acronyms could also make it easier to make a great logo later on :D |
I see where you are going with that Liz and it would be a good idea IF we could come up with an acronym that is a catchy keyword for what this community is.......that is important because people often find support communities from Google, either by keywording their specific condition or a generalised term.
personally I dont think the word patient should be included because not everyone here is a patient........ and yes, I also agree that we should be thinking about Logos while thinking about names sure are some great ideas being put forward here :) re colours..........I am partial to greens, with grey/lavender twotone being my 2nd choice |
Just read the whole thread and like neurotalk the best as a possible new name.
The titles that use the word 'health' seem to much like all the general healthboards which I personally hate, the title should reall still reflect that most of us have disorders that encompass neuro. manifestations (I think I got that right), and dare I say that being in the UK where words have different meanings the word health in particular reminds me immediately of our rotten system National HEALTH service, this set up here is I hope is going to be more welcoming to the international community than OBT. Sorry if that lot is muddled but... Gillian |
I thought I'd toss in a couple. :)
Mindful Science GABA Grey And Brain Associations (for long?) Definition of GABA: It is an anti-stress, anti-anxiety, calming and relaxing nutrient. Hey! No fair... I was thinking of acronyms and colours and names this morning at 7 a.m... but the baby distracted me! :D :D :D Great minds think alike! :) or both Grey And Brain Associations: Mindful Science |
You guys are SO hard to keep up with! Not that I think I'm your secretary or anything, just thought it would be nice to see them listed. :D
Now I'm wondering if we should have one long poll first on which names from the list to KEEP and get rid of the others. Then have a final poll, LOL. Here is this one.
And for anybody that cares, here is what they would look like in a URL.

Hi Doody. :)
You've done a great job! I added one on my post that combined my two: GABA: Mindful Science I think I like that one best of my suggestions. It'll be fun to go through all of them when the poll comes out. :) BTW: This was a great creative morning exercise! ;) |
LOL. Can we vote on anything yet?
And for anybody that cares, here is what they would look like in a URL.

Hmmm, well I submitted a TON, and to make things easier I think we could probably drop the Chronic, Disorder/Disorderly, andIllness headings, as those didn't spark any positive responses.
Now this is just my opinion, but I wd also drop the Psych headings as we are neuro-oriented and Doc already has that area well-covered with PsychCentral. Just trying to pare it down a bit or we'll have 1 or 2 votes for each name  |
I didn't see mine...
Younameitwegotit............:D |
