I found the topic title worrying when I first saw it...

It reminded me of a story told by a barrister I knew in London.

He had a client who was accused to having thrown acid in a man's face...

and while he was the defense, he was also aware that the man who had been injured had done something, I forget now what it was, that had caused his client to "lose face."
