Default new members: don't be afraid...

hi there, I got bored the other night and did some search on some names, it appeared that some of the new folks have posted once or twice or a few times and have not logged back on...

of course, there are many reasons why but IF one of the reasons why is because one felt intimidated...

May I just say welcome, to NT...

I can't speak for anybody else yet I can assure you that this is a special place...

I can also understand being apprehensive and scared...especially if you feel like nobody has answered you.

Please know that you are not alone...a lot of us that go to the forums for the first time are always intimidated or scared and if a post goes unanswered, we naturally would feel like nobody is paying us attention and then we would feel like we are being ignored...

But that is far from the truth...

the truth is that the admin and the moderators here care, the members here care...

please don't give up...

it takes time sometimes for people to post...and many of us go through cycles where we just don't have it in us to post...

I moved a lot when I was a child and I moved a lot when I was an adult...and I, just like "you" always felt out of place whenever I would go to a new school or a new place. And I would feel like I was OUT OF PLACE...

it's OK to have that feeling...it's OK to feel scared...

but you came here for a reason...you are looking for help or answers or support...

it's not perfect, but it is as perfect as it can get as internet goes for now....

not all of us may post to you but somebody, somebody will always be here to have shoulders for you to lean on...please don't give up...not on this place, but most important of all, not on yourself...

if you feel like this place isn't for you, I sincerely hope you are finding somewhere that you are comfortable with...

and if you feel intimidated...I'd like to offer a hand...

let me explain why...

I have been in this darkness...It is easy to give up, to feel doomed, to feel scared, and to feel alone....

part of it is our own minds playing tricks with us, part of it is something beyond explaining....

I decided a while ago, that I am not just going to be a talker...I want to do something...

how would I do this on NT...a place where I've been given so much yet gave back so little...

so I want to make you this offer, to anyone that is scared or intimidated to post...please feel free to send me a PM...please know that I care and many here care....

and I might not be able to answer you right away, but I always will...

and don't be scared...."YOU" are just important as anybody else....

EVERYONE, EVERYONE, has a right in this world, to live, to voice, to be scared and intimidated...

and EVERYONE, needs a shoulder to lean on...

Don't give up....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
how to send a PM
just click on my name:
on the mid left corner, you'll see "send message"
click on that and then click on "send a private message to blah blah blah"
it'll take you to a page that will look like you are sending an email...just type it out, and hit send...
My sentiments are in perfect agreement with everything Who Moi said. By the way, WM, does that mean if I send you a PM you're gonna answer it, no matter how long I make it? But seriously, I not only agree with him, but I make the same offer. If there is anyone "lurking" on this website, and I can help them in any way, I would feel pleased to do so. Thanks WM, and everyone else who makes what you say so true.
Hello, and thank you for the very warm message. It does feel a little weird to come into what seems like a family, or at least a group of close friends, but I guess everybody feels that way in the beginning. I came across this site, late one night because as usual I had trouble sleeping. The medicines don't really do their jobs, do they? I really am glad to have a place to read, and find out things that may apply to me. It also helps for me to see that some of the emotional things I feel now are normal for people that have chronic pain and disability. It's hard to put myself in that category, but that is my reality. So, anyway, thanks for the additional welcome, and maybe some time I can chime into threads or posts ( I don't know the difference between the two)
Hi Blakitty. I'm pleased you're finding your way around the site and it's good to know we've filled a void in your late nights!
I saw what you wrote about threads and posts and thought I'd try and help you out.
A thread is a new topic, including all of the replies that the original poster gets to the topic that he/she posted, where-as a post is a reply to any thread.
I hope that's clear enough not to confuse you any more. Please ask if you have any other questions.
Hi And Welcome to NT
It does feel a little weird and sometimes ackward at first, but really once you get to know others, it's such a warm friendly 'home' away from home
Your personal page, that you can set up by clicking on your name in the far, top right, is a great place to leave messages for other and keep in contact when times are busy
Thank you for this. I've never belonged to a board before and this makes me feel all warm and toasty inside.
