I went there to sample it, Dl'd it and opened it- but on the installation I stopped cold when it said:
"Installation of Microsoft Connection Manager will render your current version of Microsft connection manager unuseable. Do you wish to continue?"
What the heck will that DO to what I already have?.
I didn't want to possibly lose anything or render anything wrong.
If it is just an update, fine- but that one scared me.
I've currently got AOL on dial-up. Will this ruin/delete my AOL connectivity .....(or anything else)?
Anybody got any info on this?

Good question -
I was thinking about setting it up on parents system- right now they just use netzero free 10 hrs a month- but they don't even use that time up- LOL

But i suppose since it is still microsoft it must be an update or something??

are you using WIN XP or something that if you do try it and it doesn't work for you - you could do a restore point and roll your system back to pre install?

Absolutely ........Nope !
I'm running an old re-built Dell Optiplex running 98SE and hobbling on its last legs, ready to give up at any moment, without notice.
I don't do nuttin' that's a-gonna screw up what I already got trubble running.
That's why I stopped cold. I don't know what the MS connetion manager is, or does, or what it connects to, or from. And I certainly don't want to disable what I've got hobbling along, without being sure that what the new one does is a-gonna help, & not hurt.
Jes call me 'chicken'.

I found some things about what the MS connection manage is-
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/234762
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221119
http://www.windowsitpro.com/Windows/...4981/4981.html

I googled this too- "using AOL & a second ISP dialer "
http://www.google.com/search?q=using...&start=10&sa=N

but if the free isp works for you then you wouldn't even need the AOL anymore anyway.
if it doesn't you could delete/uninstall the free one and reinstall the AOL???
but other than that I don't know much more about it and I wouldn't want you to do something that might kill your PC - so it's up to you..

sorry I'm not much help on more of the details...

I'd need the AOL for the free AOL email account that I've had for 10 years.
Would need access to it and don;t knbpw how to accomplish that.
If I had to reinstrall it, wouldn't know how, unless installed the whole AOL package from a CD. Isolating it and finding it on the CD is a.... ???, well....at least a bother, at most a pain in the *****!
This freebie seems to be more of a pain, than its worth.
