Default New Laptop at last!!

I don't know if anyone remembers, because it was soooooo long ago, but I was talking about getting myself a new laptop!!! and asking for opinions
Well yesterday I did it, I got a Toshiba L500/020. One of the humungus white goods store had them on sale, the rrp is 1099, I got it for 882. Now all I have to do is get a few programmes uploaded and I won't know myself!!!
Just thought I'd share some of my good news for a change

Thumbs up

We just got a new Dell laptop... it just came. Haven't set it up yet.
It was about $600 with many fancy improvements over our old one that was 3 yrs old whose hard-drive died.

My son is going to try and fix the old one by putting in a new drive...but for now this new one is hubby's Xmas present. He uses the laptop mostly.

I got a Dell laptop awhile back for a really good price but by the time the computer guy put everything together and it was up and running it cost a fortune!

I should have come here for advice on how to do all that stuff!

He He, yes I to need advice on anything remotely computer like. Luckily I have a cousin and big brother and brother in law to go to and ask. My cousin played a big part in helping me out as to what I needed ie ram etc. I still was a bit bamboozled that I still need extra programmes to actually use my computer!!!!!!! sheesh havn't I already spent enough money. Luckily my gorgeous big brother has an extra copy of what I need, I do have to wait til February til I can get it, but I will be saving money, so I can't really complain!!! and I will keep using my old clunker, even tho she keeps shutting down for no reason, is v e r y slow, she still gets me on the net and talking to you people!!! so she'll do til then.

Yes, 3 yrs ago our Dell laptop was over $1000 (we wanted the larger screen etc).

This year we have 3gig ram, a huge HD, 3x faster processor, large screen, etc... for 1/2 of what paid 3 yrs ago, 6hr batt.. Besides in Dec Dell was running a $268 off as well. Our HD died last week in that other laptop. I guess laptops have shorter lives than towers? We don't carry it around much, only on vacation. (its battery died this summer on vacation, which was a major bummer since we don't have electricity!)
If it is a quick fix, perhaps I can have it for wee hours working here from bed? LOL won't have to come downstairs which is risky for me at those times. I'm always worried about a fall.

We are taking it to my son's on Xmas and he is going to help us set up. He is also going to keep our sick one and try to fix it at his leisure. It is amazing how dependent we have both become on the internet!
