that is what I have decided.. might as well get a new printer than pay for more ink. i have an epson now and i really does a great job my color are all individual so have 4 to buy at a time.

Always read reviews before buying anything of this sort. There are lots of things that are not immediately apparent that can be really annoying, and only a review will pick them up.
You cannot trial a printer.
I have had good success with Canon printers. I buy the compatible inks at less than half Canon's price, with no problems.

I don't know... In my area if you buy at certain stores you can return anything pretty easily.
Some don't even ask why you are returning a product.

I returned coffee makers that kept the coffee way to hot.
I've returned vitamin liquid supplements that tasted horrible.
skin products that daughter had reactions to.

Goodwill gives 14 days to return for a store credit.

Well!! I just had another one of my brilliant memories.

Long long ago, I used to refill my ink cartridges with this ink refill kit.

I went on youtube last night and typed in 'How to refill a 45 HP Cartridge" and ALL THESE VIDEOS CAME UP.

I am going to buy one of these kits and see if I can refill my cartridges.

How cool will that be if it works.

My 882c printer is a SOLID printer.

The previous ones, well, they were like tinker toys, if I bumped it with my knee, the whole thing would shift and I remember saying 'what a piece of garbage this cheap thing is'.

Now my 882 is older, but it's not a CHEAP printer.

So I am going to take the bull by the horns (before I replace this geezer), and try and refill my cartridges.

If it works, I'll do a HALLELUJAH thread on this forum.

There is a site www.simplyink.com that sells refurbished cartridges for printers. Just do a search for your printer and then click on it to see the cartridges. For the HP882c you can buy the black cartridge for $9.99 and the tricolor for $17.99. I have not used them before but if you are trying to save money you might want to give them a try.

One thing I am trying to find out, is HOW CAN I SEE MY INK LEVELS.

I went to google, and I followed every single direction everyone said for the 882c and I cannot determine my ink levels for this printer.

In the past, there would be two pictures of my ink cartridges up on the screen and it would allow me to see what the ink level was. (other printers I had before this one).

I really thought that this HP would offer the same option.

Don't know what else to do.

Anyone know how I can see my ink levels.?

Most ink jet printers will not work if any cartridge is empty and it is somewhat rare for the actual levels to be displayed anymore. If the printer has not been used for quite a while the ink has probably dried out, that is why there is plastic tape over the cartridge outlet when new. With new ink jet printers so cheap it can be a lot less expensive to just buy a new printer that comes with all new cartridges. I have found that Epson cartridges from the Epson store are less expensive than the 'cheap' ones on the internet for my printer, CX5000.

I haven't found anything about ink levels for that HP, on the HP site or net.

Only thing I've seen mentioned at all - is in the black ink cartridge box there is info about seeing the levels.

Does the cartridge itself have a transparent line on the side that shows the level??

I had been SO long since I used this printer (because it wouldn't print in color or black and white), that I really can't determine any line on the black cartridge.

When I get the money, I'll go and buy another printer. That's my most economical option. (Thanks Wkikta!!!)
