Open up MS Word and try this settings change-

under "Word Options / Advanced / Display", named "Show all windows in the taskbar". Turning it off hides all Word icons in the taskbar but one. This way, the described behavior disappears, but at the same time, also the ease of restoring a minimized document.]

While you're in the settings/options look through all the other sections to see if anything else looks like it needs to be adjusted.

Or if there is a default button - you could just use that unless you did make changes previously.

If all else fails and you have a disk to reinstall MS Word - I'd uninstall it a reinstall to get it all back to normal.

Or if no disk, just download & install the free Open Office program - it's almost the same and you can open ms word docs with it also.

But I would try the settings first - then run scans & if still does it then uninstall/reinstall or use the other program.
Hi to you both.

It's MS Word. It's two documents that I have saved.

I will do what you suggested Jo and see what happens.
Because of the Big Blizzard in Brooklyn, my new modem did not arrive yet. So far, the Internet is holding. Went out once this morning, re-set the modem. Went out once tonight. Alan re-booted the computer, which re-synched up everything.

Sigh!!!! some day I'll be rich, get a laptop, get a wireless connection and pay per month and I won't have to worry about wired stuff.

One can only hope.
Will update soon

Thank you very much

SuperAntispyware.com (free!) does a great job and is fast
Malwarebytes.com (free) also does a good job.
microsoft security essentials (free) from microsoft.com also does a good job and runs quietly and quickly in the background.
Many folks like AVG.com (search for the FREE edition)

good luck.
Hi. I have Super professional anti-spyware and I also have malwarebytes, as wel as a good anti-virus thing going on. I am going to run the malwarebytes because nothing else is removing this thing. I tried closing it (didn't close). I tried right clicking on it but there is no "end program", only delete.

When I choose delete, it prompts me "do I want to send this to recycle bin".

I choose yes, and GUESS WHAT HAPPENS.

It deletes it and opens up another Microsoft Word Document.

So even if I delete one document, ANOTHER ONE OPENS UP.

I tried doing the MS Word option, and unchecking the task bar stuff.

We'll see if that worked once I reboot.

This is nuts.
