Default Comcast vs Dish vs DirecTV.

I am about fed up with Comcast. I have them for phone/internet/TV. Frequently I look at my phone and see the message light blinking. The phone never rang! folks keep saying it goes straight to voice mail. I have had repair men out here for more than 2 years over and over and they cant find the problem. The TV is out a lot. The DVR they provide is a joke. it wont allow you to look past THIS week for programs, and the search feature is awkward and confusing at best. Very limited technology for what we have today. Internet is down and slow quite a bit.

I am ready to change. The problem is no one offers high speed internet but them. so, the internet will stay. my choices are DishTV (which really gave my mom a hard time) and DirecTV.

Anyone have DirecTV? do you love it? not like it, LOVE it? I dont want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I only want to go if things are going to improve. If I go to the local fairpoint (awful folks) I can get a package of phone/TV. The service must be better than the crazyness I have now.

Tell me about your provider. Dish and DirecTV are my only choices where I live.

I don't have either one, so I hope others will chime in..

For the phone ringing or not, have you tried changing the # of rings on the phone itself?
I think if you join & log on to the comcast website - you can set # of rings for the voice mail too. Maybe one of those is the problem.
My parents have a comcast package so I explored the site and settings when they got it set up.
But they haven't had any troubles.

I have had the repair dudes (not hunks like sally) check out all possibilities over the last 2 years and we cant figure it out. I have replaced my phones, and even ran new lines to the house and it still happens. My phone does ring but at least 3x a week we see a message waiting and my friends say "it went straight to voice mail." its been a puzzle.

I think I am going to choose Direct TV. The local phone company has a bundle package and I can get the TIVO DVR. Whooo! I love TIVO. Comcast has an awesome line up, but the service is down alot, and frequently we get bad reception even tho we have new lines. The price also just went up, and comcast is unwilling to provide a better package for a better price. "only for NEW customers" I said it wasnt any good if you cant keep the OLD customers, now is it?! the man wasnt impressed.

We've had DISH for years, can't even remember how long. Before we had the dish moved to a different location on the house a couple of years ago, we'd lose the signal in a heavy snow or rain. But other than that, they're hardly EVER "out".

Hello,
I had Dish network for a couple of years then switched to DirectV have had it for over 10 years. I wish the customer could choose what we want, there are a lot of channels that I don't care to watch ex LOGO the gay channel and a lot of religious channels along with the shopping channels. I like the Discovery channels TCM, FMC, C-Span, LinkTV, IFC, depending on which news channel you watch they are very biased. Living in the country I only have the slow dialup. Hope this helps, I have 2 receivers and the monthly sost is 66.00 a month, way too much too pay since most of the channels are commerical( one every five minutes LOL)

I agree! I would do away with the sports packages, and the rap channels and the music channels and the extreme anything channels. wouldnt that be great to be able to choose which ones you want to pay for?!

looks like I am going to Direct TV. I will get a bundle with the phone service from the local phone folks.
