Default More than one week with no virus

And something hit us again tonight. I finally got back on. But if no one hears from me for awhile, you know why.

I'm getting rid of viruses again.

Hope all of you are well.

Melody

I just cannot understand why you're getting so many bugs Melody. It has been years and years since I had a Trojan Horse. Nothing since that Trojan and no nasty viruses..... not ever!

I'm on the internet at least 10 hours a day, and I don't get viruses. I really think you should be looking at your anti-virus ware. No-one with an effective scanner should be going through what you are.

There are a ton of folks attacking the XP operating system now. It comes up that YOU ARE INFECTED! CLICK HERE! and when you do, it unleashes this whole bad virus. it says you need to "full version" to clear this virus and for $69.95 you can get a virus removal...anyway, then they have your credit card and you get NO relief from the virus. its awful! Microsoft has stopped attending to XP products as they want you to upgrade to at least Vista or Win7. As long as no one is at the gate, all sorts of stuff gets thru.

When you see that pop up that says you are infected (and it looks oh so real) DONT touch it. use Cnt/Alt/Del and open the task manager. highlight that ad, and end process.

I hope you stay virus free

XP is still getting updates and such.

[End of support

End of support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic fixes, updates, or online technical assistance. This is the time to make sure you have the latest available service pack installed. Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information. For more information go to Microsoft Support Lifecycle.

Hi. I posted this on a separate thread but since all of you are reading this one, I'll just put it here too. This is what happened earlier today.
You're going to LOVE this story.

Last night when I clicked on any icon I got this pop up OPEN WITH thing on the screen. I remembered this happened before.

Now I know to look in Window Task Mgr and processes to find a 3 letter virus with a .exe after it.

Couldn't find one.

I just called up Verizon, which I knew would bump me up to Mcaffee and sure enough this happened.

Seems THINGS HAVE CHANGED WITH MCAFFEE and they tell me "you have to pay $89 for us to help you with this".

They then said "call back Verizon, this is a verizon problem"

I call back Verizon, told them what happened, and a nice guy did the remote hosting and saw the OPEN WITH pop up and he says "hm, hm hm".

He does a reboot in safe mode with networking. He took control again, he did some things, NOTHING WORKED. still the OPEN WITH pop up thing.

So I'm pretty quiet and he's going hm hm hm and he says "Ah, I see, the virus has cloned your Mozilla Firefox, because when you were in Mozilla Firefox something was downloaded accidentally and it had a virus.

He continued "Verizon Internet Security Suite killed the virus but because the virus CLONED ALL YOUR FILES, VERIZON INTERNET SECURITY SUITE GOT RID OF THEM TOO.

This is exactly what i said to the guy.

(He was remote hosting, but I could use the mouse at my end too)

I said "mind if I show you something" and he said "go ahead".

I went to yahoo, I typed in OPEN WITH VIRUS

A lot of links came up. I clicked on one that says at the top of the site

WINDOWS XP FILE ASSOCIATION FIXES

I then scrolled down to the line that says Fixes .exe files (or something to that effect).

The guy gets all excited and says "ooh oooh, this is what the Mcaffee people use".

HE THEN SAYS:

OH MY GOD, THANK YOU, NOW I CAN DO THIS.

he does his thing, THEN HE SHOWED ME WHAT HE DID SO I CAN DO THE SAME THING IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN.

I thank the guy and guess what he says:

My dear. THANK YOU!!!!

ROFL
