Default I lose so many posts here. Where do they go?

I don't know how many times I've been posting & have gone out to get a Forum URL then come back to find a blank page--everything I've written gone. Same thing with the More options on Smilies. Anyone else have this problem?

Are you checking the "remember me" option when signing in? If not, your time is limited when you log in and you'll be automatically logged out if there is no activity for a certain amount of time.

Yes, I do check that.

The only other things I can think of is:

1) You're clicking on "preview post" which is next to "submit reply" when you're finished typing. I've done that and then wonder where my post is.

OR

2) When you click over to open another window you inadvertently close the window you had NT open in and that erases your post.

Not sure if either of these scenarios is correct but I can't think of anything else. Maybe someone who is more computer literate (like Jo!) can figure it out.

I'm on my iPad. Don't know whether that figures in.

Does it have multiple tabs - so you can have the NT open on one page/tab and open a new page/tab to look for a url?

I'm not sure if you mean that you go away from the ipad to get a url somewhere else?
or look for one on the ipad - and then when you come back to the NT page all is gone??

If the ipad browser has a setting for cookies and allowing some to be saved - that might help by adding the NT url into the allowed/saved list.

I'm not that familiar with ipads or Apple products.

If the "remember me" is checked then the system will not automatically log you out, so it must have something to do with your browser settings or device.

If you navigate away from the page here that you are typing a post into, and then try to back up to it again, then the info you typed before will be lost as the system does not remember what is typed in and then not submitted

also yes, be sure that you are not going to "preview" instead of submit

hope it resolves

Yes, it has multiple tabs. They all stay open. I go back, to the letter I'm working on (e.g., this one) when I've found the URL I want & saved in a copy, & that entire tab is blank.
The tabs on the iPad are like new windows on a Windows PC.
I'm working on the same iPad the whole time. I do allow NT cookies saved.
Any ideas?
The iPad is so convenient...but not when this happens!
Thanks.

sorry to sound repetitive but am trying to help and want to be sure I am correctly understanding

when you are typing a reply, and going to get a URL, are you using a new tab/window to search for the URL than what you are typing in? If not, then yes, you will lose the post you were typing...that was what I meant by "backing up"

also
I am a bit confused on when you are in preview? Usually the preview would be used only if one wanted to see how the post will display once the post is *complete* (ie with the URLs added etc) and after that one has to click SUBMIT for the post to go through

If you are following all those steps correctly, then I can only guess it must be some kind of incompatibility with your IPad...tho I am pretty sure there are other members using IPads here...and we have not had any reports of losing posts with them
