That Verizon link has pictures - the ones with antenna are the wireless ones.

Sure you can try to see if you get a neighbors wifi signal.

They may not care or they would have a password/encrypted signal on it.

You can always ask if some signals show up if you can use it until you get your own...

Oh, I just might do that. There is no antennae on my modem. So eventually I'll buy a router.

I can't believe we are now living in a Star Trek world.

Sorry I meant Verizon will do an exchange, the old modem for the new wireless combo modem, I can't remember the price they quoted me, but I already had bought a new wifi router and too late to return it.

Might have been $59.00/69.00 or such.

but if you can piggy back on a neighbors signal and they are OK with it, use it.

So let's see if I got part one of this correct.

I go to my computer guy and see if he sells a wireless adaptor USB thing. I plug it in. It will prompt me to put in a cd right? I do the installation. Some screen will come up and I just follow directions and if it finds a signal in my nearby surroundings, I should be on the internet, RIGHT??

Wow, I have officially entered Star Trek territory.

And my husband can't even use the VCR.

ROFL.

I don't know how the prices are @ computer guy place, I usually compare prices via amazon or weekly adds @ local stores.

But the usb adapter I read about on amazon - said it has the program built into it and runs when you plug it in. So no cd to mess with , maybe they are all that way.
