What stores are in your area?
Might be easier to call and ask. I think brand/quality wise as long as you don't get a super cheap one you should be OK. A online search of local stores in my areas shows Walmart has them, but I'm sure any larger store or medical store should carry them. I've used an "automotive" infrared thermometer to check pets and myself and many things around the home.
