How old is your computer?
What OS do you have -- windows xp, vista, win7 - or Mac? Is the Webroot the free version or the full security suite? You have to make sure it's the right kind of memory, usually matching what you have is the best way. You might try something like Glary Utilities It has a simple One click clean up and has good ratings- http://download.cnet.com/Glary-Utili...=dl&tag=button I've used it for many years. more free cleaners/optimizers- read about them - some are simpler than others http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0...tsTile;navForm And after the cleaning it would be good to do a hard drive defrag. That's in Windows (XP anyway) menu - Accessories/ system tools/disk defragmenter It does sound like you have some other stuff happening. these might be good to try too. http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/f...e-stinger.aspx many more free tools - McAfee is one of the top rated security sites http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/f...ols/index.aspx and maybe change out the webroot for something new - http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-...-10019223.html I find most of my programs on Cnet, anywhere else - too risky.
