Default Resizing images

I have the GIMP and HP Photo Image but can't for the life of me figure out why I cannot size a picture to use as an avatar.

In GIMP I'm totally lost. In HP Photo Image the resized picture comes out all jagged. I've done this before in HP Photo Image perhaps two years ago without the jagged effect so it really amazes me that I've forgot how to do it in that time. Maybe I should go to the help menu.

Do you have Microsoft Photo Editor?
It came with my Office 97 pro, or even us the Paint program that comes with windows.
Or Picasa from Google - free - it's a nice program
http://picasa.google.com/

Gimp has too many things - I haven't had time to use it much at all - to get the hang of it.

Thanks Jo, I will try one of those later. As it turned out when the picture came across as my avatar it doesn't look too jagged as it does blown up.

Exclamation Photo bucket

Hi BF,
I use photobucket. www.photobucket.com and set up a free account. You can upload your pictures for storage and resize for post, avatars, email, just copy and paste the link they give you to use.....

play around with it, I think you will like it a lot.

Thumbs Up

b2, you can resize right in your Pictures.

Click on "Your Pictures".

Click on the image you have saved.

Go to FILE then down to EDIT

Then go to IMAGE

Go down to the STRETCH/SKEW

Change the numbers in those 2 boxes to approximate size you want. You can play with the numbers again and again until you get what you want. Each new image size will be 100% so you have to go from there.

Don't forget to "Save As" when your done. Just replace new size with same name. That means click on "YES".

You can then just "BROWSE" to get the image in your CP.

You may not need to host it.

Default Hi befuddled :)

I have GIMP too, I use it occasionally but mostly for resizing pics ...you open a photo on your pc in gimp and then in the photo window click image, then scale, then adjust the numbers it will auto adj the other number to keep it right. Just save as jpg (or whatever format you need) and see if its what you need just takes a few trys to find one that works for ya.

Good luck
