I also use Google's Picasa for viewing/editing my photos. I really like it.
BUT-
When you install it, it will find all photos on your computer automatically. Handy but poses another problem.
They should let you set where it can look first, before it finds all the little img things.
- deleting all the little icon images can take a long time, plus if it finds duplicates...

You should upgrade to win 8.1 W/ Update (free) it is a bit better but I still long for Win 98, Xp is Pretty good - Forget Vista, Win 7 was better , Just got an old xp Machine for FREE - hoping to find a recovery partition as ddeleting old files is a pain - Also,Before you give someone a computer, make sure you wipe your personal files. I found old files, etc., His life could have been in my hands, I DELETED IT (Whole Program and files and am scrubbing away w/o looking at his personal data. Just sayin

keep the computer check memory

get a hard drive but look up what is the biggest drive that pc will support max out the memory and hard drive

find a way to get xp cooperate anyway you can or half to

xp maxes around 2 gigs of ram

but xp flies with 2 gigs of ram

now xp home is junk pro junk get cooperate

cooperate is rock solid

Microsoft one is trying to scare old pc users to but better pcs that run the new pile of crap os

ask hubby did it meet your needs would ram and hard drive make it fast enough to met your needs

i ask my customers that you know how many are still old xp machines you'd be surprised

xp support xp updates a joke i ran xp spi for beats me since we started pent 3 and 4 that could run it

i even know a German who ran xp neked no protection 10 or more years never hit infected hacked

xp will always with the right mem hard drive and cpu will always boot faster than 7 8 or vista

my first run of 7 i lost it 10 or more times 5 virus spyware 5 me trying to do customizations and shut it up

i now finally have a nag free security center free win 7

Microsoft is going back to old habits anyone old enough to remember windows me unstable crap

they have a bad habit of just tossing unstable os out then never fixing it

xp they fixed xp was rock solid above home version

there were 2 service packs me i prefer just on the second added firewall security center etc

point is why im so xp hard is because its the only system Microsoft to this day has taken time to fix almost everything and make a very stable os

i go to garage sales dumpsters everywhere for what they call trash and i call gold

people are throwing most any pc that wont take more than a gig of ram and is a singe cpu not dual core on up

makes a goldmine for me

unless game or heavy use old pcs with cable modems rock

elderly just want web word processor those tile and other simple games my grandma and ma are addicted to that tile game

sorry forum for rant i just hate change i hate lies to scare us to buy what wont work right and we dont need

the xp scare only affects new pcs

like my hp all in on refuses all but win7 64 bit the new pcs are in it with micro soft

what sucks even custom built pcs all make you run new windows or you cant find drivers to run it

its a anger raising scam that i hate im going back to my 5 pound hp laptop upgrade and back to good old xp

but to each there own just think it over first does it meet your needs is always the question

also stop up dates media player 30 or whatever

like the win 7 win 8 the newer it is the more problems stay old versions

i run old ver 9 of firefox light fast and secure i never update media player

and never update my pc hardware on pc running fine we updated the video driver it crashed went to old fine

its ranting about the same but so many gun ho to get new or update new

was the old working to make you happy why the heck did you update then?

hey good luck this is just from a grouchy die hard old pc xp person

you all have a great week
