Default ? for the techies here about screen brightness

I have been noticing lately when I am on my PC that I get a horrible headache. It is worse when I bend my head down. So I try to keep my head straight or bent a lttle back if I can. But when you are typing on you PC it's kind of hard. So I was wondering if it has anything to do with my screen brightness. I think I know how to adjust it on my laptop because it is a battery saver and I have done that before. I definetely know how to do it on my Nook. But I can't figure anything on my PC. I went to control panel and didn't see anything that jumped out at me. I also just typed in search on the Windows screen and it gave me no results. But I am tired of a nightly severe headache.
